If you are driving and a police car is right behind you...do you get nervous?

This scenario will drive my husband nuts because I do get nervous if I see a police car behind us or anywhere near us. I always tell my husband...look there is a police at our back or there is a police in the corner. I know we are not speeding, no expired tags or anything...it is just am just jittery. I think am afraid of getting a ticket for any reason at all because it is just too expensive to pay...lol. And to think am not the one driving. My husband told me to stop doing this because in the first place, the police will not stop you if you are not committing anything and that it will divide his attention while driving.
My husband was telling me, how much more if am the one actually driving. I might run a red light due to being nervous and with that, I will definitely get stopped and will be issued a ticket...lol.
Do you have the same reaction as me or am just being paranoid?

Hi ladymoonstone, first of all thanks. I think you have the same nervousness with some people when they see cops. Obviously, people feel nervous for no apparent reasons especially if they did not commit anything wrong. I dont feel nervous when I see police car at the back of my car. I do get annoyed because I thought they deliberately looking for people mistake just to get some money.

I think I am just nervouse because I don't want to deal anything that is related to law, cops or jail. I guess when I see cops, I equate it with violations and everything. I guess I just watched too much Cops episode on Court TV that it makes me nervous around them even if am not doing anything wrong. Thanks for the comment.

Nah. As long as you are not doing anything illegal, you have nothing to worry about. Same concept when passing cops. Some go slow on purpose to see if people pass them. The people that don't they sometimes pull over for being sucpicious. If cops are going slow. I fly right by them doing the limit.

I think you are right, coz we usually drive long distance and in the highways, you noticed right away that there is a police car ahead because vehicles are flying ahead of you and all of a sudden, everything seems to slow down.
Thanks for the comment.

Not really. I just see they are there and then I just follow the road laws. As long as I follow the speed limit and stop at the stop signs I should be fine.
If you get nervous or act weird there is more chance they would want to stop you etc.

Yes, I think you are being totally parnoid! But with that said, I do the same thing to my husband and I always look for one behind me when I am driving. I just can't help it. It does seem to make me more nervous even when I am not doing wrong. I do find that I end up driving worse when I am trying to be perfect because of the cop.
I really need to stop being paranoid about it but I just can't. So I understand where you're coming from. lol

Police cars don't scare me. I would be nervous if one was present and I was doing something wrong, but I know better than to do stupid things whether police cars are there or not. The way I see it, if you are not doing anything wrong, you have nothing to be nervous about.

I get nervous too sometimes. I don't know why I get nervous when I am not doing anything wrong. My husband tells me that I am paranoid :)
