Chain restaurants versus traditional mom & pop restaurants

Theres nothing like a good home cooked meal. And thats exactly what we got at these small little local restaurants called mom & pop joints. You get exactly what you pay for - good basic traditional food. But this is the age of the advent of the chain restaurants. Its like every city you go to, you get to see the same eating joints like McDs, Applebee, etc etc. The same overpriced food at the cost of being fancy. Sometimes i wonder when we started trading in good tasty food for the fanciness of a joint. And arent we all bored of the monotony of these chain restaurants by now? Any views appreciated.

The uniformity of chains drives me crazy sometimes although I do eat at them off and on. I really prefer mom and pop restaurants, but I don't see very many of them around anymore.

Home cooked meals are the best choice. But sometimes we may be bored of eating the same food or even the person who prepared them also want a little time away from her kitchen. So, off we go to these chain restaurant or fast food restaurant. I think over time eating outside and the monotony of the food, we will also become bored and eventually go back to home cook meals.
