How Do You Stick With It?

Maybe it's my ADD, or maybe it's just my nature, but I have an incredibly hard time staying focused on things that require time, especially when the payout growth is as gradual as MyLot's is. Not that I'm complaining, I love to talk, and I LOVE to get paid, but I have difficulty hanging around. I'm sure this is the case for plenty of people. I'm wondering how the more committed people manage to keep themselves occupied, or if you're just patient enough to hang around with little to do. I think I may be too hesitant to respond to discussions about topics I'm not 100% in love with. I'm trying to broaden my horizons as well, but I seem to keep coming back to one or two discussions that I know I can produce worthwhile input on. If I'm not sure, I just wander away and look for a discussion I am sure about. Anyway.. I'm ranting a bit. How do you keep yourselves occupied at MyLot? If you answer, I might stop ranting for a while. (Unlikely. But I'll appreciate the responses, at least =P)

Thank you =] Good luck. I don't have your kind of patience, I don't think =P I'm always about instant gratification.

When I was in school, we didn't have ADD or ADHD, so it has never been official that I have it. Most of my friends suspect that I have it, and they might be right. For me, this is just a warm-up to my regular writing. I bounce from discussion to discussion until I am ready to roll up my sleeves and get to work. I figure it will be months before I get a payout here, but it is better that I do my forum hopping here, rather than elsewhere (aka free forums).

Yeah. That's cool, that it actually serves a purpose beyond cash payout for you. Academically, I'm assuming? You reap the benefits in more than one way =]

Oh, that's really awesome. I /love/ writing. I always have. Recently, though, I lost all inspiration and motivation to write. Plus, I can never focus on one piece for very long. I lose interest in the blink of an eye. That has always sounded like an exhilirating job. But maybe I'm just easily excited?

During my non-school hours, I earn my living (a small living) as a freelance writer.

Yes, patience is part of it. And then it is determination. If you lack determination you won`t make it. Well and then it is setting goals. Lets make 30 posts a day. Or I want to have a star, I get it at one hundred posts... Just setting little goals like that. Well, then I am checking emails several times a day and I might as well check into mylot and answer a couple of discussions, during the evening I spend about two hours surfing part of it is again posting at my lot, this is how I do it and I have reached payout within the first month that I am here.

Thanks, that's useful. The "little goals" approach didn't occur to me before.. it should have, seeing as I've been told to apply it to everything I'm trying to achieve in life =P I'll keep that in mind and set little goals.

I'm driven to earn money online! That's what keeps me going on mylot. I sometimes do have a problem staying focused but I start telling myself how much I like that small amount of money added to my paypal account every month and will just start typing away.

=] Thanks for the input. I'll keep that in mind. I just need to get to the payout every month and then I'll be set. I think once I show myself I /can/ reach the $10, once I know it's possible, I'll be more motivated to work at reaching it in the future.

Like someone above me said, try to make small goals, and achieve those. That way, you won't look at it as one big task, but smaller ones. Just like you might clean a room, starting with one corner, and then working your way further every day.
