Do you say soda, coke, pop, or something else?

Oohh, this is a hot topic for me! I'm from New Jersey and I call it soda. My husband's mother is in Michigan and she calls it pop. Which I understand, different areas call it different things. But the first time I ever met her she asked me if I wanted anything to drink. I said soda, and she went off on how it's called pop, not soda. She actually pulled out a dictionary to show me the definition!

sometimes we will encounter people who will not bow to the common lingo. they prefer the proper way of tagging things. that is how it goes with your mother-in-law. she must be a very patient woman to have gone to such length as showing you the dictionary and explaining everything.

the beverage that i take depends on my mood. it can be hot coffee, iced tea, sprite, royal truorange, fruit juice or hot chocolate. at home it is usually either hot milk ot hot chocolate milk.
