Why i am asking this question is when sourav emerged in the world of cricket he was the god on the off side and his shots on the off side was a delight to watch any good ball will have despatched to the boundary with good timings etc etc.and he used to score even centuries with lot ease suddenlyt there was talk about his onside batting is not good and he was tried to correct that thing then we sow a different ganguly who was slogging rather than using his timing and he lost his ability on the offside what would have happened to him ?why the playres lost their abilites as the yrs go by ?due to pressure ?or trying to innovate ?

According to me players ggames are changind because coaches are tryin to overcome the players weakness and in turn losing out on their natural game. Also insecurity of stayin in the team is affecting these players natural game.

One true statement the infulence of the coach or other expertisee does affect a player .the coach will teach something which may not be suitalbe to that player and he will eventually loses his natural game .i think ganguly tried too much concentrated to strenthen his on side play which lead to lose of his offside play .thanks for the comment.

It is natural for players game to change down the years for a number of reasons. As they try to be more consistent, cutting down risks, use lighter bats, come with new shots, improve their technique. Besides the role of players also changes as they are asked to anchor the innings while as newbie they were given licence to take on the bowling. Then with injuries players modify their game as not to put too much stress on those parts of their body which was injured and hence modify striokemaking. The game itself has chnaged with 20-20 cricket as powerhitting has become common whereas before it was all about timing. Nowadays mishits go for sixes.

Sachin's game has also evolved over the years. You dont see him stepping out and hitting pacemen over the infeild a lot these days.He has added shots to his arsenal which have cut down the risk and still gets him runs quickly. He improvises a lot now and uses the bowlers pace to guide the ball to thirdman for a boundary. It involves risk, but the master he is,he has mastered the technique and uses it on his discretion. And runs do come and we should be happy with that.

Though his game has changed Sourav is scoring runs for his teams when it matters the most .And its what counts in the end,the number of runs scored and not how you get it.

As players age their style of batting evolve. But though Ganguly tends to slog occassionally,he still is as good a timer of the cricket ball he was in his prime and still plays fluently on the off side.It is just him adding one more weapon to his inventory: the slog.It has got him runs when it mattered and won India matches,so it is for the good.
