Why is Baguio City (Philippines) well-loved by people from the lowlands?

I stayed in Baguio for one full year. I must say that my experience doesnt resonate with the experience of almost everyone from the lowland who stays there. For one, the whether from June to October is not very appealing to me. Imagine cold rainy days. It aggravated my depression. But this is just a personal thing.
Baguio City abounds with self-improvement centers and cultural activities that one doesnt easily find in any other cities of the Philippines. And that is just something that I'm happy to have experienced/witnessed when I stayed there.
But, the Baguio thing is just a year-long thing for me. I still love the climate, the heat and the way of life in the lowland.
I wonder what the experiences of others are.

ive been here since college and i want to stay for the rest of my life. ive been used to the climate..to the places..to the faces ive been seeing around. hehe! ive met friends and acquaintances whom i truly dear.
yeah..climate is the first and major reason why many of us (lowlanders) wanted to stay in this place. but as you have said...if you are depressed...i think the atmosphere will help you feel more depressed...i can attest to that! haha! for those who are sensitive in terms of emotion, dont stay here during the rainy season and cold season.
and to tell you honestly...i love the old baguio...when there were only few buildings...the wind was still clean...there were only few vehicles...and there were only few crimes. baguio today is not that safe anymore. ive been a victim of holdup. so sad!

I have been here almost all my life but I still love it. If I am away for quite sometime, I am not that comfortable not to be home.
I don't know but I equate Baguio with comfort. Home will always be home for everyone else but if the cool cold weather is coupled with cool people, who will not love it. It is a small city but dominated not only by the natives but also with various races that makes it an open friendly city.
I don't know for some, experiences varies. It all depends on how we see and deal with those we encounter. Like any other place, may it be the weather, the people, the culture, the tradition, the education, the beautiful spots, as long as we know we can be friendly, wherever our journey leads, we will love it.
Whenever you step your feet, home as they say will always be home! So, like me, I know that home for you will always be your home and none can compare.
Whew! Keep posting! Enjoy!

guess the weather is the main reason why baguio is well-loved by people from the lowlands.. you cant experience in manila the chill of the morning breeze and shivering when taking a bath early in the morning.. but for me theres nothing new anymore about baguio.. taking the weather aside, it will be like manila! sad to say baguio wasnt taken care of by its citizens.. :(

Baguio really isn't a good place if you're depressed.
With a depression you'll actually feel that the weather is all down and gloomy...
But if you go there in love or in a honeymoon, you'll all snug up and cuddly next to your partner....
It's better if you are in love....:-)
