sell or auction?

what do I need to do? sell or auction?I need to choose between the two. Selling means first come first served. The very first one who see the item and loved it in a glance (he he) will surely get the item at the price I want but sometimes, buyers do some haggling and so the price will drop. Bidding in an auction means a fair game. The one who really loves the item, will bid, bid and bid. If he/she is the last one standing, then he/she will get the item she want. so do I need to sell it or have it auctioned?

first of all, WHAT is the item that you would want to sell? you know, both choices are good but i'd say that you should go with auctioning your product especially in big time markets (especially if your item is a biggie... i hope you know what i mean... =D). with selling your product, some customers might negotiate with the price even if you'd insist it to be fix priced. if you auction it, chances are, you might sell your item at a higher price -- higher than you expected. but the downside here is that, you risk selling your item at a price that is lower than you expected. so it's your choice really. just choose wisely so you won't regret your decision later.

it depends on the item you are selling and the demand for such items

Errr...I don't know what product/s you intend to sell or auction. Are you planning to join Ebay? Of course bidding will help you get a better deal. Depends on the kind of product/s you have though.

Personally, I feel it all depends on the item and the price you want to sell. I go for auction if I do not know the price of the item and I wanted to sell the highest price possible. I would sell the item directly if I know the market price and the demand is low. I do not necessary have to lower the price if the buyer haggles.

it depends on what you are selling and how old is this item. if its more than 30 years id go with the auction, especially if its one of a kind and hard to find. youll catch a very high bid with it. then if its new, then trying selling it. if you decide to sell it, give an extra allowance with the amount you have in mind, so itll be helpful if the customer tries to haggle.

I need to know what item is on sale. Only then one can help in this issue. Moreover the expenses of conducting an auction need to be known. The taxation policy in your country regading auction and sale should also be clear. Only after these informations can one take a decision whether one should sell or conduct an auction.

Depending on where this activity is taking place. For example...Ebay you decide and it makes no real difference. Just better know what the item is worth. I usually list something that I need a certain amount from as a best offer type of listing. Good luck finding the system that works for you.

I would rather have y items auctioned in ebay. However, one has to put a minimum amount so I think that I would never actually loose out on the selling price.

I think it depends on what you are selling/auctioning. You can always try actioning with a reserve price, like that it only gets sold if it reaches the reserve price or over, at least that's how I think it works.

No, a reserve price, that can be shown or not to the bidders is a price you set for the product. For example If you set a reserve price for a computer desk at 100€, you can start the bid at 00.01€ if the bid doesn't reach those 100€ by the end of the bid it isn't sold, but it can however go over that number, it won't be sold if it gets to 90€ but it will be sold if it gets to 150€. About the reserve price in ebay http://pages.ebay.co.uk/help/sell/reserve.html

ah so the reserve price would be the price start of your bid.. right? he he he

If you are giving something away, then i would say that you should acution it rather than selling it. Because if you plan to sell it the buyer might get a chance to bargain with you. But, i dont think that this is the case in auctioning. So, whatever you do choose wisely and best of luck.

yes that is right. if you sell, haggling will come but if auctioned,, it will not come he he! :)

If you want one set price, then sell it. If you are willing to haggle and possibly get even more than you need, then auction. It depends on how popular the item is. You can set a "reserve" on auction, which no one can see, but if no one bids above the reserve price, then it won't be sold. If you decide to auction the item, you can always sell it if the auction does not work out for you.

If you want my opinion - auction it! If you're not a seller on a regular basis and this is only one item you're gonna sell, then auction it, so you get maximum price for it. Auction is not about building business and reputation, its about making the most of of the value of the product, unlike selling, where you have to consider having lower profit to build a reputation.

sell means that you are selling your stuff into some percentage off from the original value.auction means that its acompetition of the amount on who the biggest one to bid will win the stuff.

If you depend on getting a certain amout for your goods I would sell them. If you are getting rid of something for other reason than money I would go for the auction. It sounds more exiting, and maybe you will get even more than you hoped for.

What item are we talking about? Would people want them? Unless you have antiques for sale, I would think you should sell them. Auctions are really more for antiques - before eBay came in and ruin things. :P

Well I would say auction mskzalameda, and you can always set a reserve so that you do not sell it for less than you want to! Good Luck! xxx

Since I don't know what the item is I guess it would have to be your decision. I personally prefer to just sell then you need not worry about shipping it somewhere. You can always set your prices to allow for a little haggling.

For me, it depends as to how much you wanted to dispose the item. If you want it sold real soon, sell it. If you want to sell it at a bigger price but longer, then auction it.
