When did your baby start to walk?

Well, from what i have heard, about 12 months is a general guide, some sooner & some later but many babies i know of have walked around that age. My daughter was walking around 8 1/2 months so she was a bit of an early bird but still, every child is different. You'll still need to wait a bit before you can really trust them to walk too far on their own coz it can take a little while for them to be stable enough. Don't worry about it though all children are different & yeah, around 1 year old is pretty common - it would also depend on how soon or late your child crawled too!

My son start to walk when he was 9 months and it seems he wants to run but if he will try it he will fall. He try and try until he learn it now that he is already 14 months.

Mine was premature, and although we worked with her daily, she didn't begin to walk until 15 months. I was so convinced that something was wrong with her, and went through every possible development screening that was offered in our area.....lol.....but, every baby does it at their own pace!

I have five children and they all walked at different ages . The earliest and of them walked was at a year old for her first birthday and my lastest walker was my son who only started walking when he was fourteen months old . He could walk but wouldn't do it around us . He landed in the hospital because he was sick and when a friend of mine and I went in to check on him , he was walking everywhere and we got all excited , the nurses thought we were crazy because apparently he walked all the time but still didn't walk at home for us for another couple of months .

My daughter started walking at 11 months to the day. My son just turned 1 year on the 13th of May and he is not walking yet. I keep waiting for him to but that doesn't seem to be happening any time soon. I know that all kids do it when they are ready i just think that it is so cute when the little ones start walking.

my eldest started walking when he was 6 and a half months old. my youngest started late walking 8 months and a half.

I have two little boys about 20 months apart. Each child is different. I know this because with my first he started walking and doing all the other baby milestones very early he started crawling around 2 1/2 months, walking by 6 months and talking before he was even 9 months. My second child has been much slower then my first...he started crawling at 6 months, hasn't really started to walk completely on his own yet and he'll be a year old on the 11th of June. He also really hasn't started talking much either. So like I say every child does their own thing in their own time! Hope this helps.

My oldest started walking around 11 months and my youngest started walking around 13 months. Some babies start walking way early and others wait a little while. I like it better when they wait a bit to become mobile. :D

Both of my sons started walking around 11 months. It was very fun to be able to walk with them places. And oh the things they will get into once they start to walk!!

I would say make hay while the sun shines, there is no looking back once they start walking ! My little girl gives me such a hard time even though she's just walking cruising along furniture and not entirely on her own, I can only imagine how much I will have to run around once she's on her own. she 's 13 months old and stands by herself but doesn't walk.

My little girl took her first steps when she was 11 months old. She didn't really start walking until she was around 13 months old. Now I can barely keep up with her lol.

my little girls walking even trying to run 15mths old and a friend of mines grandson born to weeks earlier isnt walking so relax it happens when it happens and when it does there are times you wish they werent walking at all as they get into everything and i mean everything lol

I don't have kids but I can tell you about my cousins :) one started at 10 months, his brother at 13 months, me at 13 and one was over 2 years old. Every kid walks when s/he's ready and feels safe; I saw my cousin's parents get worried because he didn't walk and he was already two years old but now he is a normal 15 year old big boy (and taller than me -yeah I'm jelous :)-) so don't worry if your baby won't start early as your friend's (and wow 7 months is early!). By the way good luck, it's always wonderful watching babies' first steps... I remember I could stay "hours" looking at my cousin trying to find the courage to let himself go from the sofa and reach something the other side of the room! He's face became all concentrated and it seemed to say "now I can make it" but then he felt on his butt and his look was so sad that I would end picking him up because that face broke my heart :) Gosh I love babies!
