What would you sing and NOT sing sing if you were to audition in American Idol?

I would NOT sing any of the artists that the judges tell the contestants not to tackle unless they want to be compared to the original. For example, Whitney Houston and Celine Dion. I would probably pick a country song since I sound the best to myself when I sing those. I would never audition, though...my singing is reserved for the shower and in my car driving by myself. ;-)

I would probably sing a country song as I am personally drawn to country music and know it better than I do other music. I wouldn't do rap either as I don't like it and I don't think that the judges do either. I am sure that Simon would complain a lot if someone would do a rap song on there.

I would figure out what type of music was my strength and go with that. Like if you can sing Jlo music but not celine Dion then obviously you should sing JLo right???

I would sing a song that means alot to me then it comes from the heart that way you shouldnt fail if you feel the words you sing it shows and those are the people i like when i watch idol all the time if they dont feel it then to me they just might as well be speaking words cause it dosent sound right.

One: I would sing a song that doesn't have that mych wide range (because my range is limited). Two: I will never sing a song previously sung by an American Idol winner, specially Fantasia. Why? Well, let's just say the judges don't appreciate these that much (see how they can't get over Fanatasia's I Believe when LaKisha sang it). The voters don't like contestants singing these too. They kicked out Lisa Tucker for singing Kelly's "Because of You." I also think Lakisha could have gone home when she sang that "I Believe" song, but she saved saved because it was charity night.
