hey people...i know we should all be angry at snape for killing dumbledore..and the other hideous stuff he has done...but dont you think he is a fantastically unique dark character.??...i mean...first of alll hes a highly talented wizard..but sadly has fallen to the dark side..and do you possibly think that he had a thing for lily while they were at school????and from his memories..we have seen that he also had a very painful childhood..so what is your judgement on snape...misunderstood or still evil??

I think that Snape is good. The books portray Snape through Harry's eyes... so of course he would seem evil on the outside! But we have to understand that Snape grew up being tormented by James and his friends. So Snape's dislike of Harry's father makes Harry think that he's evil (because Harry can't think of a bigger hero than his father). I think that in the 7th book, Snape will prove his loyalty to the Order and to Dumbledore.

After Dumbledore and Voldemort , in my opinion the most powerfull character in the book is snape .
Not just now as a professor , look at him over the ages .
Slughorn says , not even snape could have done that . According to slughorn snape was excellent along with lilly
But Sirius says , Snape was always fascinated by dark arts , and he knew more curses and hexes than most of the seventh years knew right when he was 11 .
Isnt it a remarkable feet in itself . Forget the fact wether he is good or bad .
He is a skillfull occlumen , other than that , he cant survive , maybe if he is with voldy , he shuts his mind against DD , and vice versaa .
I wont say it is sad for him to go into dark side .
I would always love a tough competition and snape would always give the tough challenge to harry

I think ultimately he's good inside.
I really do. not very nice, but I think in a tough situation he would do the right thing. there's been a lot of incidents where he has been helping people, but usually taken the wrong way. like during the Quidditch match in Philosophers stone.
suppose the next book will prove one way or the other.
but I think he's one of the good guys. I think he's not the nicest person, but honourable.

Whether Snape is evil or just misunderstood. I think my verdict is still out on this one. The Last book will tell.
But as a character Severus Snape is someone to be greatly admired for his skill, power, talent and cleverness. It takes a lot to fool a great wizard whether he was playing Dumbledore or Voldemort. Remember, both wizards trusted him implicitly with their plans.

I think he is ultimately good, so therefore misunderstood. I believe he only killed Dumbledore because he had to, what with the unforgiveable curse and all that. He's also done good stuff for the order of the Phoenix. I tink in the next book he'll end up doing somethig to prove he's ultimately on the side of good!!
As for lily - i reckon he prob did fancy her and she snubbed him, and that's even more of a reaso why he hated James Potter and therefore his son, Harry!

Totally misunderstood. In my opinion, Snape will die in the last book, trying to save Harry's life. I do think he had a thing for Lily, but she snubbed him, maybe that is why he hates mudbloods.
Of course if he didn't use shampoo as a young kid, it is easy to understand how he could be a target.

Misunderstood I guess. He may have his own reason why he's being so hard with everybody else. Dumbledore trusted him so I reckon there's something that he's been hiding. Maybe there's a certain revelation of his character in HP 7. What dyah think? ;)

I think he's misunderstood. I've always loved his character. It's just everything about him amuses me. I highly doubt he's truly evil and if I'm wrong, I still think I'd like him. I'm not really sure about the Lily situation, but everyone has their own theories. It's good to see that I'm not the only person that likes him. Most people think I'm crazy.

I think he's misunderstood.. He had a bad youth experience which haunts him.. Voldemort used his weakness to let snape fall for evil.. I think he hated lily because of her being mudblood.. He had the same views as of Lucius Malfoy about that Mudblood thing.. Voldemort is really good in Legitmacy or have I misspelled it? pardon for that.. He used it to control people and attain power..
