I was just thinking back to my first school-the actual building. I had moved down south in a rural community that previously had a wooden building. It had just been upgraded to a modern cement block building which contained four classrooms. Each classroom supported two grades. It was a huge success at the time because it was the first time there was indoor plumbing, and a nice big modern kitchen and cafeteria. I really loved that school because I made lasting friendships there and it was the start on my road to learning. What memories do you have of your first school?

My first school was a half a block from my house- and my sister and brother both went there before me so all the teachers pretty much knew who I was - that made it very welcoming. I remember my kindergarden teachers always wore high heals- how she managed around a bunch of 5 year olds I'll never know...lol
A few years back the mayor sold the property the school was on to a Walgreens...so sad..it was a cute little school with many fond memories for those of us living in town.

Hi shambuca. I remember also when you could recognize a teacher because they had an unwritten dress code. My teachers (female) always wore heels, too. My school closed when they intergrated the schools in our area. It's always sad to see the old buildings go.

I remember my first school also. I only attended there for first grade because a new elementary school was being built for grades one through six. It was an old concrete building and they had a nice playground for the children to enjoy. Each class supported either first grade on up to sixth grade. The new school got completed and I attended it from second grade through sixth grade.

hmm. My first school was a big brick building with 2 floors and a basement, connected to the church (went to a Catholic school). What I remember most was the bathrooms were down half a flight. like you went down a set of stairs and on the landing was the bathrooms, then more stairs that went down into the basement.
My school went from Kindergarten to 8th grade so there were a lot of kids there. I only went there for 2 years then transferred to the school across the street from where we lived. They had just started a kindergarten there and my brother was in that grade so i transferred too. It was the school my dad had gone to. But they closed after I finished 4th grade so I went back to the school I started in for 2 years before moving away and going to another school.

My first school was a corporation school. Since my two sisters were going there, I too had to go. There the teacher was old. He gave wrong age I suppose and was still working. He used to sleep always and same old abcd he used to make us repeat. I got bored and used to play some dot game with another girl. One day he saw us playing and nicely gave with his cane. I cannot forget it.

i entered my first school at the age of 5. it is not far from my house, abt 50m away. the school covers the grades a kindergarden and 6 grades. 4 classes in kindergarden and 2 classes in each grade.
the most memorable place for me is the large playground where we all played various games. there grow many osiers. so those piquant boys love climing the trees, and sometimes it would become a pretty good way they showed themselves to attract girls around them. hah!
this school have been renovated for a long time. added many new rooms .of course the numbers of both teachers and students enrolling there are far increased.
i think it is a place that most of us can not easily forget.

i attended my first school when i was five years old. it was just a small school back then and they only cater up to grade six students. it was just in a small yard. we had a small playground and no much students enrolled in it.
but now, it was transfered to a bigger ground and the number of students that they have grew many times fold. and they now cater highschool students.
i did not have much memories in that school. but i still can remember it. it's a part of my student's life and it's where i started.

My first school is situated at my native village. When I entered in this school above forty years back, it was a three room block with earthen tiles above. Room-1 for office and class-5, room-2 for classes 1 & 3 and room-3 for classes 2 & 4. In front of the school, it has a big garden and play space. A well was in the middle of the garden. Our Head-master was residing there and he had a kitchen at one end of the varandah near the office. The building has been renovated in the last few years back. Many teachers have also left this earth. In its campus, lately added were class-6 and class-7 block. The memory of my first school is certainly a pleasure for me always. Thanks.

My first school was a simple brick set of buildings, very direct and to the point. I enjoyed it there because it didn't have that dreaded cafeteria food syndrome. The food was actually decent. I got a severe shock when I moved on to middle school

I do remember my first school which had a huge entrance and a playground begng ater 10 steps from the entrance. The Building of the school was a big one however the best place where I could usually be found was either my classroom or the sports ground. I have a few friends whom i am still in contact but most of them are in no contact now.

My first and last school was a huge building which is still there. It has more than 40 classrooms from kindergarten to the 10th grade. I really liked my school days and still have friends from those days.
My school was quite popular for sports and I participated in soccer and athletics. My teachers were the best I could hope for and will always be indebted to them for their guidance.

Well my first school was brick built and had 15 classrooms a combination assembly/dinner hall, changing rooms - no showers, a medical room and a library! It was split over 3 levels and relatively new - I loved that school! My almost 14 year old son went to the school before moving to high school and now my 5 yr old is just finishing her first year there too! I now live in the same street as the school - I can see it from the back of the house. There have been many changes there since my day - extensions, extra rooms , parents rooms, resource rooms etc! There are computers in every classroom as well as in the computer room and the teachers no longer use blackboards but interactive white boards! I really feel like the school has been a big part of my life! xxx

My first school I attended from Kindergarten until the end of grade 7. It was a big old brick building with a new addition added on for the 7th grade. It was called the open room where 4 classes were in one huge classroom, all of the 7th grade. It was supposed to get us ready for high school, I think it was petty stupid but it was the early 70's and a lot of our education was changing.

I remember my first school well. I went to Green Valley which was on Green Valley road. :-) I loved that school. I went to that school through the six grade. My brother went to that school as well and he was 3 years older than me. He was popular as he was into sports. I started playing sports and I became popular there as well. I played Volleyball, and Basketball. Not to brag but I was good. My brother taught me some on basketball and before long I was playing with the boys at home so I got much better playing on my team at school. I also did the long jump in track. I miss those days. I never thought I would miss school but I do now. I had some great memories at that school.
