Conscience or karma?

When you do something that is not good, sometimes, (most of the times, in my case) it gets back to me. And I ask myself, is it because of a real karma operating? Or maybe, just my conscience checking on me. And this very self that make tragedies or misfortunes happen? I mean, attracting the bad vibes because of the conscience that doesnt permit the body/soul where it is housed to not be "punished" for what it did.
What do you think on this?

Well, I guess if you feel really guilty about something and in your mind you think you deserve to be punished, your unconscience mind may invent something for you to be punished with, However, I think that if you believe in karma, what goes around comes around. But I just believe that people go through good and bad times. We as humans want to find a reason for the bad times, so we blame it on things we did in the past. Which is right? Who knows, all I know is bad things happen to people, regardless how good or bad you are. Sometimes bad things happen as a consequence to a behavior, and in that case you are being punished. Thinking negatively does have an effect on behavior, attitude and life. If you are looking for bad things, bad things will happen. Try thinking positively and use every experience, positive or negative as a learning experience and try to look at the positive side of things and how it can make you better person, rather than focusing on the bad all the time! =)
