Do you think dogs have distinct personalities?

I've had several dogs in my life and I don't remember any of them being the same. Each one have had their own personality quirks. The ones I have now are so different from each other, even when they have been raised in the same environment and around the same people. My older dog, Clio, doesn't like children, she loves to ride in a car, she's very calm and sort of indifferent and she's very dominant too. Her daugther, Gracy, is very sumise instead, somewhat nervous too, she's the king of dog that throws itself on the ground and show its belly. Both of them panic when they hear fireworks, thunders and such. How about your dogs? Do you have anyone that is a very peculiar dog?

I definately think that dogs have very different personalities. My mother has owned 2 different golden retrievers. One liked to have her time alone and spent most of her time with my mother. She also was a bit smarter and was more gutsy when it came to stealing food. She was quite sweet, but could also be a bit stand-offish and always looked for people to give her attention during thunderstorms. My mother's second dog constantly wanted attention. She slept in my mother's bed with her, was more interested in playing than the first dog, she was also pretty fearless. This second dog was just so affectionate that it almost didn't seem real. If she could snuggle with you, then that is exactly what she was going to do.
I guess in that repect, dogs are a lot like people and have different temperments and personalities.

Yes I do believe dogs have distinct personalities because I have one that think shes a human. If she my daughter brushes her dolls her or anyone is getting their hair done in the house here she comes barking because she want her coat brush.
And get mad if you don't do it.
