Should we thank people who respond to our discussions?

I think it's polite, but I don't think you have to do it. I do it, it's always nice when someone answers a discussion I started so I like to make sure they know that I appreciate it. But I think it's more important that you respond, because it is a "discussion" after all.

It is against mylot guidelines for us to thank people for responding to our discussions. I always try to respond back to as many people as I can when the respond to my discussions. Sometimes I will thank to add a thank you at the end to let them know I appreciate their responding to my discussion. I have had a friend who was told to stop saying thank you to the people who responded to her discussions or they would ban her from mylot.

When i was new to mylot, i used to thank quite often as i saw many folk doing it. But now i respond to discussions i would like to and to show my appreciation for their response say thank you. As we here to discuss and not just say thank you. Moreover if there are 100 responses would anyone say thank you times, that doesn't make sense. Besides as other member has reminded all of us it is against mylot guidelines to just say thank you, so we better follow it.

To quote the don'ts of myLot guidelines......"Thank everyone that responds or comments on your discussion. This will not increase your earnings." So it doesn't mean NOT to thank members just not everyone. I thank a few that make a very outstanding response maybe. HAPPY POSTINGS FROM GRANDPA BOB !!~

I think it is good to thank people it will create a good image i guess, i do thank people (sometimes i may forgot)by the way u are not new one u have reached u r double cetury

I don't thank people for the sake of just thanking. I do thank them sometimes, if I reply to their comment I might thank them at the end, but I would not reply to just say "Thank you for your comment," as it seems unnecessary. If I have something to say I will say that something and thank them while I'm at it, but if there's nothing else to say I leave it at that. I rate them positively and that's my thank you to them. =)
