New CSI City: Where Would You go?

Let's say you were able to start a new edition of CSI. Which city would you pick for the new spinoff to go to? Would you have a preference at all? For me, I would love to see a CSI show somewhere like San Diego. The mix of cultures in that city, along with the span of the city, would make for some interesting cases. I know that when I lived there, the news always featured some weird stories that I think would be interesting plots in a CSI show. What about you? Where would you put a new CSI show?

How about a series that is like CSI / criminal minds - that goes from one major city to the next all over the world ? Maybe several different cities per country. 1. We would be able see something of the different cities and countries. 2. The kinds of crimes they battle with. 3. We would increase our world perspective.

Sounds good to me. I like the different city thing on Criminal Minds. Profiler was like that, too. Helps the show not become so redundant.

That's almost a hard question because of all the possibilities. The first place I thought of when I read this was Hawaii. It'd make for a nice location, lots of bikinis which unfortunately is a selling point, but even better is the fact that there is a huge mix of people there. The story lines could have so many unique twists just by throwing in the tourist factor. After I thought of Hawaii, I thought why not Alaska. That could be interesting...bodies in snow banks, illegal shipping, poaching, cruise ships...there are possibilities there. My third idea was to go somewhere "inland", the only city that comes to mind would be Chicago. That would probably be most like CSI: NY but with a "mid western feel lol. I also momentarily though that a "deep south" CSI could be good because even all these years later there are still racial issues dow there. But a show like that wuld probably just be considered too controversial. One other thing that I would like to see, especially if another show ever came about, would be a little more interaction between all the CSI shows. Once in awhile they'll have a story touch in all 3 cities but I'd like to see it happen more often.

Hahaha... the funny thing is, I remember specifically thinking about Alaska, too... but thought against it. I like the different ideas though, but I'd worry about running out of ideas. Chicago would be too much like New York for me, but it could work with the right cast. Now, Hawaii is an idea. That would be awesome, tourism (Like CSI:LV) and the mix of people would give way to some great plots. Thanks for your response!

I think we get our share of bikinis in CSI:Miami.

Since I don't think they'll be going north of the border (ie Toronto), they have the north east covered, the south east, the south west... time to go north west to, I guess, Seattle. Of course you could get into a lot of politics with CSI:Washington, but that could cause problems. I think they should spread it out across the country, therefore go to the north-west.

With the entire directional theory, I could see the show heading to Seattle. It would play to some interesting dynamics (weather, forests) and could be an interesting city to explore through a crime scene investigator. Thanks for your response!

Seattle was the first to come to mind for me. I agree with the other respondants who said Chicago nwould be too much like CSI:NY. I likie the suggestion of New Orleans, but I think there would be a lot of recycling of plots.

i'd say Csi must pick Asia too. A lot of weird things are happening in there. Just thought must add in Asian character too to have a bit of a spice.

I would be interested in an Asian setting; however, it would be difficult with language barriers. But I think that the right city (maybe Tokyo or Hong Kong) could suffice, with storylines dealing with gangs and tourism... Thanks for your response!

How about out of the USA and into the crime capital of the world - South Africa. You will see crimes there that will make your hair stand on end, if not, you will be pulling it out! Take your pick, Johannesburg, Durban, Cape Town, Soweto. My brother-in-law was murdered there last year when his car broke down on the road between Johannesburg and Pretoria. All they got was his cellphone and his shoes.

that sent shivers down my spine - sorry for your loss. i agree that csi should come out of the usa as it always seems a bit too glam. how about somewhere in eastern europe?

I don't know if I would do another CSI show (even though I'm a fan of the ones that are on now). But I would kinda like to see a CSI in a place that's more rural. Yeah, it wouldn't be as much of the same kind of crime, but hey, it could be interesting. Maybe it would make for a good spoof. But I think if they try to do another big city one, they'd have to make it an incredible cast or something. Otherwise it could be overkill.

Can't argue with that. Three Law & Orders was enough. They tried two more and they didn't make it. Three's probably the limit.

yeah, more shows would definitely be too much. I am curious as to whether or not a rural-type CSI would work. There might be an opportunity there for more interesting scenarios, plus a small town would create more ability for relationships between CSI's and citizens to play a part in stories... it could be good if done right... Thanks for your response!

Well San Diego is one choice, I do agree. I think though if I was going to pick one I would pick either Chicago or New Orleans. I can't choose between the two. Both have qualities that could make a show really interesting.

I like CSI:Omaha!! Maybe, Seattle, Reno, Hollywood?? Actually, I do like CSI:Twin Cities!! That would be cool, and what a beautiful city that is. I know technically it's two, but it looks like one.

I really like all the CSI shows. I really think that in a smaller city, with more land, rather than big cities, might make a good show. I also thought of Alaska, or Colorado. Just something with a little bit of change of scenery.

Alaska would definitely be interesting, I would wonder if they could get federal cases involved like Wildlife issues and things of that nature. I never thought of Colorado; a simpler scene could produce more specific crimes. Thanks for your response!

I think chicago would be a good place to have CSI show.

Chicago would be interesting, I would be worried that it might be too similar with the New York series, but I think it could be done. There's always some new cases to unveil, as long as the writing and cast is good. They are also the midpoint for a lot of travel/cargo, which could contribute to storylines. Thanks for the response!

Yes San Diego would be interesting. They have one of the best zoos in the country, have illegal immigrants from Mexico and all the problems that go along with it.

A good city for CSI is Nashville, Tennessee. They have a high crime rate, Country musicians, The Grand Ole Opry, and is a Southern Place with many colorful characters. I think the public would really be interested in what goes on in the Country Music Business and with the Country Music Stars. Dolly Parton and Billy Dean would make great guest stars.

I am not familiar with this CSI show. But it would be interesting to know about it. Perhaps if I can study about it, I will be wishing we have a show of that kind here in the Philippines.
