YOu could set up a home studio at hme to photograph peoples pets or kids. You could do photography of peoples weddings or graduation pics or baby pics from hme or at their homes. Once you build a portfolio you could submit to your favorite magazines to become a photographer for one of them, this would be field work, you go where they send you. You could photograph your favorite outdoor scenery and place the photos for sale online. Check out these websites: http://www.fanartreview.com This one is a direct link to walter paul bebirian's page at imagekind.com. I love his eye for photography and the unusual. http://www.575488trillion.com Good Luck!!

Do you have your own equipment already? If you do, you will definitely want to work on making a portfolio. Check around the local papers or schools. Also, make friends with the people that work in the camera shops. They are sure to hear about people looking for photographers.

man, those are great suggestions, I just own a camera and my laptop, but once I learn alot more than I will purchase alot more stuff. I was actually thinkingabout making a portfolio with the thousands of pictures I have taken of charleston sc and my children because I've had family members tell me the pictures I taken look professional.

Starting your own photography business is not easy. I started by own business and have been working it for over 5 years. I have built up a small client base of school sports teams and I work for the local newspaper covering sporting events. All the money I make goes into equiptment and I still have a lot to buy. I have been told that to make the good money I have to do weddings and senior portrates. Good luck because it it great when you can get paid for something you love to do.

My suggestion would be to go to DA www.deviantart.com it is a website for ALL types of artists including painters, sculptors, models, animators, writers, artisans (like me), and of course photographers. You can start out by uploading any pictures you took that you are proud of and would like to showcase. DA is very friendly. You have the opportunity to make friends in the Chatrooms and Forums, and you can also find tons of Tips, TUTORIALS, Inspiration, Contests and Prizes. The best thing about DA is that if you make a print account, you can turn your photographes into money! They will turn your art into prints, coasters, mugs, posters, calanders and a whole bunch of other stuff. Also you get a discount if you buy your own art and you could sell it to people in person. I started off by just taking pictures of the things I sold on Ebay... Now I take pictures of Pets, Objects, Buildings, and Family & Friends, it's fun, and I make friends and money =] I wish you the best of luck

What about Senior Portraits on location. Family photo's on location? I have a studio in my home, but do mostly on location shots. People love them, they are original to thier family! If you are good at what you do and truely patient, it will come, a little at a time.
