LOL vs LMAO

This may sound weird but I prefer to use lol. I don't like to use the other one because one letter represents a swear word and I don't feel that it is appropriate to use on a forum such as this one. Now if I am talking with my friends, I will use it. To me they mean about the same thing.

This may sound strange or random, but I use lol when I find the hilarity of the comment is not very intense. In other words, when the situation isn't really that funny. I use lmao when something is actually hilarious; in that case, in real life, I am usually near laughter.
lol is also a bit plain to me, so I usually extend it ridiculously to point where it is not even a coherent acronym. For example, I have a tendency to produce extended typos of lol such as: lololololz, lolsoslsls, lawls, laqls, so on.
