My girl and her problems

I have this cat Tabby, she is a good girl but she has some serious problems. First she was only 2 weeks old when we took her in and because of that she never got the required nutrition from her mom. She was raised with 2 dogs until she was almost 2 before another cat came into her life so she thought she was a dog for a long time. She made this funny noise that was half meow half bark until Simon (the other cat) came alone. The vet told us 2 years ago that she was brain damaged from something in her kittenhood most likely lack of mothers milk. Last year she started hiding and won't be social with anyone but humans and she starts fights with the other animals. Now she lives in my sons room and refuses to come out, we have to keep the door closed because if the other animals get in with her there is a bloody brawl that usually ends in her visiting the vet. She is 8 now and we don't know what to do with her. I can't get rid of her because, 1 I don't do that, and 2 with her problems she won't adapt to something like that. She is a good girl but she is starting to cause us some troubles.

maybe tabby became insecure with the introduction of a new cat in your house. Maybe she needs more attention than before.

Sorry to hear that. Can only be heart breaking to you. I agree with what most of you said but make sure that u set a time of day with her every day the same time and let it be "girls time". That way she would not feel that she's totally alone and that everyday she would look forward to the time you spend with her. Give her lots of attention. Like been said...we're all different.

Thank you it is very sad for me because I love having my cats around and at night I like having my lap cat which she was. We have visit time with her as a family and my son spends a lot of time with her. I just wish I know what set this off, she is an indoor cat that has never been abused she is just losing her grip reality.

Oh dear. That is sad. Well, I would just suggest that she stay alone in the room. Put in a litter box, and feed her there. Keep the door closed. She is a family member, what else can you do? Good luck.

I feel bad for her, she gets so excited at visit time. She has her own litter box that only she uses if another cat goes in it we have to empty it out and wash it before she will use it again and her own food and water in my sons room. With the heat I have started moving her to my walk in closet during the day where it is cooler so that I can open my sons bedroom door as his room is in the attic.

Maybe you should take her to a pet psychic. I'm not joking. I took my cat to an animal communicator and I found out a lot about my cat. It helped me to bond with my cat even more than I had before. The one I went to was reputable; an article was printed up about her in the newspaper. I paid $30 for a half an hour -- it was worth it as far as I was concerned. The pet psychic can even relay your message to your cat, which may resolve some of the problems your having with her. The pet psychic will also tell you why your cat acts the way she does through questions. Whatever you decide to do, I hope you resolve the issues you're having with her.
