My son's last day of 1st grade is tomorrow. Today they cleaned out their desks and he brought a whole paper bag of stuff home. . .artwork, papers, spelling book, journal etc. He and I went through most of it and he told me what he wants to keep. I've been keeping papers with good grades all year, but now what? How much of your kids schoolwork do you keep? He is my first child going through school, I can't imagine keeping everything but I feel bad throwing some of it out.

Ask him to pick his favorite thing out of all of it and put them in a book. Thats what I did with my sons stuff.

I don't have kids so I can't relate fully, however I've never been a fan of keeping too much stuff around the house for years and years. Keep that really makes you remember the year and nothing more. :-)

maybe you can make a scrap book of the special things that he has made...frame a few pictures that sort of thing...trust me, by the time they are finished school, you will not have anywhere to store it lol!
Even my mom kept some of my stuff...i have it now! while i think it is important to keep stuff, i dont think you have to keep everything!
