Do You Use Quotes From Films In Your Everyday Conversation?

My partner and I are always doing this. It has turned into quite a habit now.
I also do it with my friends and when I say a quote that gives most people a perplexed look, but my friend comes back with another line I must admit we do get a laugh from this.
My favourite quotes have to be from..
Animal House
Blazing Saddles
Monty Python
Some Like It Hot
So whats yours?

Yes! Not just films, but also television shows. In fact, my sister and I do it whenever we get the chance because we like to see how far we can take it. Sometimes we can almost do an entire scene if it's something we've seen a lot. Other times we use the quotes just because it fits into the conversation and it just kinda came to mind.
Things we quote a lot are Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Firefly/Serenity, Harry Potter, Red Dwarf, and pretty much everything that's considered kinda geeky. In fact, tonight we kept quoting Invader Zim.

Red Dwarf, you are great!! I love this series and often my partner and I quote from it. Its a classic.
I must admit I have not heard of Invader Zim, I will have to go onto limewire and check it out.

I have a few! I use, "What's up, Chicken Butt?" from Suburbia. All my age mates from secondary school still use that one, and it's almost like a secret handshake. Then there is, "What we have here is a FAILURE to COMMUNICATE" from Cool Hand Luke. The kids get that all the time. When things go wrong, I trot out a Batty quote from Bladerunner, "Time to Die." I also use, "Up your ziggy with a wah wah brush" whenever the chance arises. I knowit is from a movie but I don't know which one. I actually picked that up from SpFi here at mylot.

Those are funny!! Do you get some strange stares when you greet your friends in public:)
I remember working with a woman and all we use to do was quote from Some Like It Hot. People who didn't know the film used to look at us oddly.
Anyway, "This is where I get off!!!!"

Generally I don't because I don't watch that many films although I do say "go ahead, make my day" whenever the opportunity presents itself and I used to say "hasta la vista baby" all the time until my friends threatened to kill me.
However I have a friend that I've known since I was at school - I only see him maybe once or twice a year because we live at opposite ends of the UK. When we do get together it's like regressing back to our teenage years and we quote lines from songs and films at each other all the time. Fun for us but I'm sure it's fairly alarming (not to mention annoying) for others in the pub.

I'd love to be able to throw some movie lingo around once in a while, but there's only one line in any movie i can remember and that's ''up your ziggy with a wa wa brush''
i have a terrible short term memory, not sure if i even have one at all, so attempting lines from movies is nearly impossible.

I do quotes from lots of films. Some Monty Python, Princess Bride, Monkeybone (a big fave of my husband's), really probably too many films to name.
A lot of my quotes come from anime too, which is really funny when only myself and my husband are in the conversation who would know what I'm saying. Lots of fun blank looks from other people while we're laughing our butts off.

Monty Python one liners are brilliant.
I am always saying to my kids "Now don't do it again" in the same accent from Life Of Brian.
Thanks

Haha I love Monty Python! Yeah, my friends and I do the same sort of thing. Since I'm a musician, I play in lots of pit orchestras for musicals, so my friends and I use all sorts of lines out of musicals and sometimes can have almost a whole conversation using just quotes from the musicals. lol I'm sure some people think we're goofy, but we have fun. lol

I agree, it can be a good laugh.
I used to work in theatre too and I remember the musicians I worked with did enjoy a good laugh as well as a good drink between cues!!LOL
Thanks

I'm a bit of a geek when it comes to movies...I have whole chunks of dialogue and info stored away that is of absolutely no use to anyone. Monty Python is a great source of lines and as for Animal House...
Mr Blutarsky...Zero point zero

Yeah I do.
I actually bring a lot up and say them just like they was originally said. Yes it sounds quite mad but it's also very funny and that's the reason behind it.
There's gold over that hill!
Kudos ITAS,
~Joey
