Cats Vs. Dogs

My dog always barks at cats. Cats in turn always tease my dog by passing by its cage. Why do they seem to dislike each other? Is it some sort of animal instinct?

You are keeping your dog in a cage? That's so cruel. Dogs are social creatures to be excluded from the pack (you) is the worst thing imaginable to them.

I think they just like children did.My dog and cat are the same as yours.Intersting things is that they would like to please me and have a competition.At night,the dog will sleep near my bed and it means to stop the cat coming.So interesting they are.I think it is some sort of instinct.
