I think that chapter in the Bible is awesome!!! it teaches me that He is my protector, and my Savior. I have total trust in Him, He gives me peace, ohhh, and peace feels good. When you put all your trust in Him, He will give you strength, and will always make you feel like you can almost feel him right at your side.
Sometimes I almost fall down, because I feel like leaning on His shoulder, and so I do. Great feeling to know that He is there always.

While I love this psalm, I confess I do have trouble with it. What I experience and see others experience in this world does not line up with the promises in this psalm. What about the Christian martyrs, for instance? What about modern missionaries who are kidnapped, tortured and killed for their work? They suffered and were not saved from suffering. I can only believe that the promises are not necessarily for this world, (although they can be) but definitely for the next. The main message to me is to trust and don't stop trusting no matter what. That nothing, absolutely nothing, can happen to me that doesn't go through God first and He knows what plans He has for me.

hi...thanks for posting....you are right that we must trust the Lord our God in all that we do no matter how we have gone through in life we must still trust God....for He is our defender and saviour....and also as you have said He has plans for us....He knows what He is doing.

Psalm 91 is often called, The Great psalm of Protection, and I make it a part of my prayer and meditation praciice every day. I first came across this little gem when I was in my teens and reading a selection from the book, 'Seven Came Through', a true story from World War 11. I find it gives me great comfort. I don't believe there are magic words anywhere, but often cetain words, sometimes poetry, sometimes prose will just strike a chord with you. Psalm 91 has done just that for me.
