What scent just smells fresh to you? Here in Florida we finally got some rain, we hadn't had any in almost 2 months, and it smells so wonderful outside. I step outside and that is all I can smell and I am really enjoying it. Right now it's just that gentle rain that is barely coming down. Hopefully it keeps up :) So what scents do you like or smells fresh?

I love the fresh scent of clothes when they first comeout of the dryer. I also love Florida. I can remember the smell of the beach and the ocean. I love it. I also like the smell of cedar. It smells so fresh and clean. I'm glad that you got some rain in Florida. Every time we have been there, it usually rained for a little while every day at Panama City Beach and Sarasota. I would love to know more about Florida. I look things up online all of the time but cannot find alot of information.

I have to admit clothes, but especially sheets, right out of the dryer do smell very fresh. It's a unique scent. Crisp and clean along with fresh. Well not sure what you want to know about Florida but if I can answer your questions I will. I've lived here now 23 years so know a lot about it.

You've got a native here. I was born in FL 65 years ago and have lived in FL (at one end or the other) all my life. Ask any questions you'd like and I would also try to answer them.

Thank you emeraldisle. Youy are on my friends list and I will contact you sometime. We love Florida but have only visited a few places there. We have always wanted to move there some day but we don't know much about the areas. We don't know where the low crime areas are or where there is good job opportunities. I think the minimum wage there is higher than it is in Indiana. Is it? What is your area like? Is it heavily populated, low crime?

I'm down near Tampa and we are supposed to have it all weekend :) Hopefully some will go up your way as well. It's really cooled off here as well. We could turn off the a/c for a bit.

Oh I love the smell of fresh rain to. It is funny that you would bring this up because on Monday we were having funny weather and I could tell it was about to rain so I grabbed my daughters and said lets sit outside and watch the rain. They looked at me as if I were crazy because it isn't something I guess I have done with them before even though we did it all the time when I was little. So we got out the chairs and the blankets because it was getting cold and sat out in the garage and listened to the rain start. I told them smell the rain isn't that a wonderful smell. They agreed and really enjoyed our time sitting outside watching and smelling the rain. Of course when my SO pulled up in his truck to find us girls outside huddled in blankets he was like what the heck are you doing. He laughed as my girls told him how fun it was to watch the rain and then told him to smell it*L* Oh yes I too love the smell of fresh rain!!

That's really sweet, Tricia. I hope if I have children someday, that I can be so imaginative to get my children to appreciate the simple things.

There's one smell that I just love, and for some reason, I've only ever smelled it in one place. My partner and I visit Cypress provincial park close to where we live. It's up in the mountains and is so called because of the Cypress Trees there. When we go hiking up there, there's a certain spot where all you can smell are the Cypress trees, and the oddest thing is that the smell reminds me of Coconut suntan oil. It smells just divine. I spoke to one of the rangers about this, and he's smelled it too. He said he doesn't understand why it's only in that one particular area, considering that the Cypress Trees are scattered all over the place.

Interesting, maybe it's not just the trees but a combination of it mixed with something else growing there. I don't know but sounds like someplace I'd probably want to visit.

I love the scent of vanilla. I have several candles, soaps and the like with that scent. I actually have pure vanilla extract we got from Mexico and I love baking with it; so much better then the artificial. I love chocolate but not really the scented ones of it, they just don't make it right.

Emerald, this rain we're getting is so welcome, but did you hear that Tropical Storm Barry is headed toward the northern part of west Florida? So, enjoy the rain and just pray you don't get a flood. I'm sure glad we're not leaving South FL for GA until Monday. I also love the smell of everything outside after a good rain, the smell of a fresh picked gardenia, my towels when they come out of the dryer, and a nice clean baby.

Yep I heard about the storm. Still it shouldn't be too bad. Just mostly rain and some wind. I can live with that. Besides it's really dropped the temperature down. It's nice out :) I wish I could have gardenia. One of the many things I'm highly allergic too and it grows everywhere here in Florida. Towels out of a dryer though are wonderful especially to wrap up in and just breath.

Our temp dropped also, was in 70s instead of 80s all day yesterday. Today it's going back up in the 80s and will stay like that all week while we're up in Georgia for our granddaughter's wedding next Saturday. I do hope it's a little cooler up there...LOL.

Oh I do enjoy the smell of rain! It's good to hear you all are finally getting some rain. It's not been quite that long since we've got it but we really need it. The weather forecast keeps teasing us with it and it's has rained some around us but not in here. Other smells I LOVE - wood burning! I love the way wood smells when it's burning. I also love the way fresh cut grass smells too. That's the only two that I can think of at the moment...other the the obvious of flowers.

Oh I agree it depends on the wood too :) I love being around a camp fire or a fireplace. I have always wanted a fireplace in my home. I hope to one day - and not a gas one either! Forget that! LOL I do have an outdoor fireplace but I rarely get to use it working third shift :(

We had a fireplace up north in our house and I miss it. Down here we don't and there are a few times I wish we did especially when I can smell the smoke from someone else's. Makes me homesick.

It's now teasing us now. Lots of humidity and pressure changes but no rain :( I love the smell of wood burning depending on the wood. A good camp fire or fireplace can be wonderful to be around.

I have always loved the smell of sheets after they are out of the dryer. They smell like fabric softener and they are warm to boot. Also, the smell of a tree with citrus growing, just makes me feel more relaxed. The best scent though, is of my mom's perfume. It reminds me I still have her with me and of all times she has been there for me.

Sheets from a dryer have a great smell to them I agree. They are comforting. I don't like the smell of citrus growing but then again I'm allergic to it hehe so that might be why.

Yes, I would say that could be why! : ) I have to admit though, if it is a lot of citrus in one place, my eyes water. Like the store Bath and Body Works - my allergies go nuts when I step foot in that store. My sister's favorite scent is pretty weird, she likes the smell of gasoline.

I love the smell of freshly mowed grass. I love the smell of lemons. I love the smell of that lavender Johnson & Johnson baby bath soap. And I agree with you, the smell of the outdoors after it rains.

Like may other posters, I agree that the smell of fresh laundry is great. In fact, I currently live behind a laundromat and when the wind blows right and I have the windows open, the smell just drifts right in. It's so soothing. I also really like the smell of pine/evergreen. Growing up we always had fresh Christmas trees and they made the whole house smell so festive and fresh. It's such a unique crisp/fresh yet homey smell to me. I often look for candles that mimic it, though there is nothing as good as the real thing!

I haven't had a fresh tree since I moved to Florida. It is a great scent I agree. The articial scents do not come close to it. They just can't capture that scent.

ocean - ocean wave
for me is always sea breeze...I can walk with my eye closed...I can lie down on warm sand and just be....feel my whole spirit flying over the ocean and see land from far away... I am a dreamer...and dreaming on the sea shore is never-ending story... ocean breeze is the not only scent that feels fresh for me, but it is the best...only natural...I don't like an artificial scent...

Natural scents are always the best, I do agree with that. The scent of the ocean can be very good although I have been in areas where it isn't always great. It all depends on what else is around.

I love the scents of nature. The wonderful scent that is only available when you connect with nature. I love to smell the air after a gentle rain. I love to smell flowers when they are in bloom in my flower gardens. I love to smell the woods whild hiking. I love to smell the river when it is ever so gently moving downstream. I just love all the scents that nature has to off. There is no way that man could ever duplicate these scents to perfection.

I agree we can't duplicate it. We can get close but not exact. I love the smell of a river as well. It's a great scent of water that is very calming.

For me it's hot bread or other baked items. It's not just the smell of freshly baked bread but the warmth and aroma that can be mothwatering. I also love the way my bathroom smells when I clean, I use lavender scented disinfectant and it's wonderful and clean smelling. I also love the smell of a freshly showered (man's) body, after a small dab of deodorant has been applied. You can still smell the dampish cleanliness of the person. Yummy!

I love the smell of when you hang your clothes out to dry and then bring them in , they smell so fresh and so clean . I also love the smell when you are in someone's flower garden in the summer with all the smell of the flowers , it just somehow makes a beautiful day even nicer . We haven't had much summer here yet this year as we are still getting frost in the mornings so I haven't been able to enjoy any of the nice outdoors smells yet but hope that soon we will start to get some of the sunshine that I hear so many other MyLotters talking about lately .

I don't hang out my clothes any more but I remember the smell of linens coming off the line. That is a fantastic fragrenance and one that man can't reproduce. The mix of wind and sunshine on them is one only nature can make. If eel for you with the frost still. We've got summer here already but I'm in Florida, we have it early here.

I also love the fresh scent of rain even before it comes. I can smell rain even before it starts pouring down. I love it! I think I love the smell of rain before actually hearing it outside even more.

When I lived in CT I loved the fresh scent of just moved grass. To me that's one of my favorite spring time scents. Now if I can enjoy the smell of a flower garden especially after a recent rain that's just as nice.

My sister is wishing that my brother had mowed this morning. She loves fresh mowed grass along with the rain. Fresh mowed grass is a fantastic smell.
