Tomorrow i'm going to participate in my first Yard Sale. It will be a 2 family Yard Sale with my supervisor at work. I don't really shop at Yard Sales and i've never had one of my own so i'm curious. What's the most money you've ever made by selling things at a Yard/Garage/Rummage Sale? What type of items are good sellers? Thanks in advance for your response!

Thanks for your response! My son got EXTREMELY sick on Saturday so I could not participate in the yard sale that day. My boss made over $100 on Saturday (it was a 2 day sale). I participated in the sale on Sunday and I sold mostly baby clothes. The larger items did not sell. I made $40 which isn't bad considering that Sunday is usually a very slow day. I really wish I could have participated in the sale on Saturday but things did not go as planned. I bet I would have made a good amount of money because my boss said a lot of people stopped by on Saturday.

The most I have ever made is between $100 to $200 having garage sales. Mind you I never posted in the paper. Even the yard sale I had last weekend. The signs blew down cause of high wind.
I go yard saling / garage saling on a regular bases. I am also look for good sales, cheap sales and large sales. Things I buy depends on my mood. If something catches my eye. I buy it. I also will go out of my (like the country) to go to a sale. I look for clothes in my kids sizes, clothes for me and work shirt sfor my husband (out tshirts work great for this). I also look at jewelry, things to add to my decor and kitchen items.

Thanks for your response! $100-$200 seems to be the average earnings for a yard sale.

I've never had a garage sale and actually sold my own stuff. I did help my friend with her yard sale the summer after her parents split. They got rid of a BUNCH of stuff. They sold pretty much all their dishes, the dining room table, the patio furniture, outside swing, etc. We also sold a bunch of toys and books that her nephews had outgrown. And some clothes from my friend and her mom (they always buy brand name, and the clothes still looked perfect, so they sold really well) We made close to $2000 all together. Her sister gave us 5% each from the stuff of hers we sold. Her parents gave us each $50 and took us out to eat, so it was good enough for me. :)

Wow, $2000?! What the heck was she selling? That's a lot of money from a garage sale. I bet she was happy and it looks like you made out well too. Thanks for your response!

I normally make between $100 and $200. But I am happy as long as I make my add money back. Because whatever I make, I made it and it is out of my way.
The best items I have found are baby items, nick nacks, and I would say furniture. It really just depends on what your customers are looking for. Oh and some are antiqueing.
I love yard sales. But they are a big job when doing one yourself. Good luck with yours.
