Sportsman spirit

Now a days, the games such as cricket, football , tennis etc are becoming a big business and a lot of companies are seen sponsoring teams and players are chooses as "brand mangers" of their product.
Is it true that in between these 'games" the real sportsman spirit is lost some where?
