Fabric Softeners and Fabric Conditioners

Is there any difference between a fabric softener and a fabric conditioner? At the shop, I usually see one brand which is a conditioner and the majority of the rest are softeners. Can someone please tell me if there is any difference between them?

i have always thought of them to be one and the same thing. at times, the same product is given different names by manufacturers. perhaps, the reason for this is making a mark in hte market. if they are marked differently from the rest of basically the same product, the tendency of the buyers will be to try it out one time. now, if the product is a good one, people will keep on coming for it. this is really a very good marketing strategy so, some companies have been adopting this.
