I am one of those computer music geeks who started making music with so called trackers in early 90´s. Today I have Reason 2.5, Wavelab, cool edit and Korg Electribe EM-1 and some other music gear.
Anyone who makes music with computers?
What´s your gear and software you like to use?

If you´re searching for a free multitrack and audio edit I recommend you Kristal.

I´ve tested Skale tracker. It´s very good if you´re familiar with Fast Tracker 2 or Impulse Tracker. However it´s a bit buggy and may crash with some OS.

There´s also a shareware of Music Studio Independence. It´s not free but very cheap only $39.

But you get also Fruity loops xpress edition for just $49.

I have to admit I'm not a maestro player myself either. :D
You can try Fruity loops demo here:

And there's Acid Xpress demo here:

i use a few of these programs including fruity loops for hip hop. amidst the people who ridicule fruity loops users a lot of top professional producers use it. I also use a pre-amp and studio mic to record my stuff. I don't use any other hardware like turntables, mixers or samplers because i don't need them - my method is to make something out of nothing - for as little cost as possible.
