My heater is on full blast and won't shut off! It's hot in here!

My heater is on full blast and won't shut off, and when I called my landlord about it, he said he can't deal with it until Monday morning.
So, I've got both windows open all the way, and my large box fan is running on high.
I'm eating ice cream, drinking pop, taking showers, and doing whatever else I can to try to cool off in the meantime.
What would you do if you had something like this happen to you?

I have a neat trick. Pull off the plug. Find the power link to that and pull it off. It is quite dangerous to have a spoiled heater on, I think...

I tried to find the power link to it, to no avail. I even tried going through all the switches in the fuse box, and the dratted thing would STILL not shut off. I think it runs on gas or something. I am going to search around and see if there is a shut-off valve or something.

Sorry to hear that... try to call up the company of the heater and ask? Or search it on the net?

I am in public housing. The Housing Authority is in charge of their heater, and it runs along an entire wall in my tiny studio apartment.
The only recourse I really have against this is to call my pre-paid lawyer when their office opens at 9 a.m. Pacific.
I have already talked to Housing to no avail. I can't change their mind. They refuse to work on it until they open at 10 a.m. Pacific today (Monday), and there is nothing I can do about that.
But, I will talk to my attorney and have this dealt with legally. There is NO excuse for me to suffer like this all weekend long just because they didn't want to go into overtime and after-hours.
How can I say it nicely? Housing doesn't give a s*** about their residents.

Where is the thermostat? Do you have your own? Try to ask your Ladlord where the thermostat control is. Even if it was set at 70 as long as the building is hotter than that it should not be kicking out heat.

Yes great idea.. we did that as kids too. It is still early enough on the west coast to catch a matinee at a lower price. ok do your errands but you are very upset ( understandably so) you need to get your mind off of this for a while.

There is no thermostat in this apartment whatsoever.
All we have in each apartment in this Public Housing apartment complex is a dial control on the wall for the heater.
The dial is all the way off, yet the heater is still running, and it is WAY, WAY, WAY hotter in here than it is outside.
And, the longer the heater runs full blast, the hotter it gets, in spite of my box fan going on "high" setting and both windows being wide open.
I am going to thrift stores today to look for more fans. I have one large box fan, but it's not doing enough to counteract the tremendous heat. And, besides, the fans will be useful this summer.
Once summer is over, I can donate the fans back to the thrift stores, as I have no storage here.
It is a long wait until Monday morning comes, when I can call the Housing Authority maintenance department and my Pre-paid Legal attorneys.
I am going to ask my attorney whether this kind of treatment I am now receiving from Public Housing is in violation of any laws or codes or whatever, and what to do about it so this will never happen to me again.
Luckily, I have some errands to run, grocery shopping and donating clothes to a thrift store, that will take me out of the house for a while so I can get at least a few-hour break from this oppressive heat.
