Should you force someone to learn something?

Has anyone ever asked this? I think it's partially true that when somebody has to learn, they need to be pushed a little. But heres the thing, people turn away from things they are forced into. Like when it comes to religion. You can't force somebody to learn religion because they will turn away from. I'm sounding repetitive, but am I wrong to think you shouldn't be forced on something?

I never force someone to learn something except myself. I force me to learn Japanese, because I like Japanese cartoons, such as bleach and naruto. I don't want to see the words only, I hope I can know what they said. It is more funny, I think.
I force me to leave majiang, it is a gambling game. I lost over $150 in a week, and I earn only $150 a month now. So I have to give up it. Do you think it is addicted? Do you play some gambling games?
Good luck, friend.

Forcing someone to learn is not the most effective way to learn. With no passion or motivation or interest, the person forced to learn might subconsciously or intentionally resist learning.
So what's the point really?
That person is upset because he has to do something he does not like. The person forcing is upset because because that person he is forcing is not learning it well. So it becomes a lose-lose situation.
The best way for this is to find a way to motivate the person to want to learn it himself.
But of course, religion is something you can't force. You can't learn a religion even if you want to really learn. To know God, you need to use your heart. You may memorize your scriptures well but that's different from knowing God.

Forcing people to learn has some advantages and disadvantages. You can not force adults to learn if they are not interested. You can force children to learn things because they don't what they want and you can put seeds in their mind to learn.

No. It's somehow unethical to force someone into learning something, especially when (s)he might not like what that person is teaching. If we did force someone into learning something, we'd be no better than the fascists and Nazis of World War II. No. People have free will. They'll learn things on their own. And if someone forces another to learn, it may make his/her learning process slower. It's better to let him/her learn on one's own time. Free will is what counts.

I don't think so by forcing anybody he can learn....Somebody can only learn when he has interest...So its better to leave on that person who has to learn..

no,it is not possible to force anybody to learn something.because i think every body has hi/her own identity ..and to make them learn something forcefully means to detect terms onthem.. nobody will appreciate this...even in case of religion...it should come naturally from within.

We can not force to any one to learn something ,because other person like other things to learn. Why we should force them to learn. Some one is like drowing ,swimming, studies, sewing, cooking, amradaries .All are not thinking same thing and liking same thing. So do not force some one to learn wich is you like.

If i want somebody to learn something, i will not forced them because its better to learn in their own way than pushing them.

Forcing a person to learn something is not really a good sight. That person should be interested what she/he wants to learn so that they wont turn away from it and that they really would learn something about it.

I dont think any one should be forced to do anything they dont want to do. They may come to resent you for forcng them in the first place. all you can do is voice your opnion and encourage but in the end it is there decision to learn it or not.
The other thing to remember is you dont want to be pushy either. If they say no then leave it at that and dont bring up the issue again unless they do.

Yes, we can't force someone to learn something. Otherwise, he will not learn anything. Learning something should come from himself. Forcing someone to learn something can get a disappointed result. You have already spent time to ask, beg or force him but your efforts won't be heard at all.

I agree that the harder you push sometimes will only make the other person more determined to do things their way and not listen to what you have to say . Everyone likes to make their own decisions and does not like to think that they were forced into doing someting they didn't want to do . I know for myself that if someone is persistent then it just makes me mad and then I don't want to listen to anything they have to say but if they give me options then I am more willing to listen to their point of view .
We do have to push on ceratin issues but issues such as religion is for each to decide what is right for them as I don't believe there can be a right or a wrong when it comes to religion as there is no way to prove that one is better then another .

I've never tried it, and I wouldn't want to. They are really learning it out of fear, and they won't really learn it.
