I'm I the only person that sort of hibernates on hot days too?

I tend to just hide in my air conditioned house and soak up the quiet of my home while my kids run out (they're all teens) and enjoy the sun and heat. I HATE heat. hence my desire to live in Alaska! LOL I have MS and that adds to the intolerance of the heat too. But I can honestly say, unless I'm in the water swimming outside I have little desire to be out in that hot sun. Am I the only person that hibernates for SUMMER? LOL

No, you're not alone! There is another one. I'm not very fond of sun, and I can't stand heat. Hot weather makes me so tired that I barely can move my arms and legs LOL! Couple of days ago we had first really hot days this year, and it made me miss the winter. OTOH, I'm not fond of snow also...

Oh I hate the HEAT. I guess I'm a glutton
for punishment considering I moved from
New Jersey to Florida. Thank goodness for
the beach, pools and modern technology.
If it weren't for water to swim in or air
conditioning I would have to give up riding
my bike year round and move north somewhere.
I don't think Alaska would be the north I'd
consider but perhaps Oregon or Washington for
a change of pace.

LOL.... Jack... you're officially crazy. You hate heat, moved to Florida. Not only is it hot there but the humidity can kill ya! LOL
I have to agree, I've often said Seattle was my dream place when I visited there. Winter is light, a little snow to keep you festive, and most of the weather is in the 70's the rest of the year 'round.

You want to know the funniest thing about the
nasty humid heat and riding a motorcycle? Let's
say it's around 90° and the sun is shining. Perfect
riding weather to cool off right?
As long as you're riding sure. The wind feels good
and keeps you cool but the minute you stop you find
out why it feels cool. You're soaking wet with sweat.
It's one of those phenomenons about riding. Just like
the wonderful sharp stinging you get when it's raining.
The beautiful riding weather is the only thing that
keeps me here other than my career.

No, you're not the only one, I hate the heat. I was out gardening today, and was sweating lhe like crazy. The way I see it is if it's cold, I can keep adding till I'm warm, but, once you're too hot, you can't really take it all off. Like, once you're naked, that's pretty much it. It was so hot today, and it's not even summer yet....bleck.

LOL! No. I HATE the heat and avoid it at all costs. Luckily living in the UK, we don't get extremes of heat (it never really gets above 30 C) - but I just hate it so much, and never go out unless it's because I have to go to work, where we have fans on every desk. The UK really doesn't "do" air-conditioning. I am blonde and fair-skinned, so even 5 minutes in average heat will turn me lobster red and then I peel, so I never lie in the sun or sunbathe, and I do find being in hot temperatures unpleasant and stressful. I am always tired in Summer as I do not sleep so well, and being tired makes me snappy and bad-tempered. So I will join you in Alaska!!!

Well at least in AK we know we'll be happy go lucky together sharing a place! LOL I can unfortunately understand your fair skin problem since my meds from the cancer treatments have left me soooo prone to burning. This from an Irish/Italian girl that looked 1/2 black in the summer as a kid!!!! LOL It's so strange for me to have to really worry about sunlight!

I HATE the heat. Actually, it's the humidity I can't take.
People don't believe that theres a difference between heat and humidity and there is. I went on vacation to Las Vegas one year and it got up to about 102. Yes, it was very hot but as long as you were in the shade so the sun wasn't beating down on you it wasn't that bad. And your sweat actually helped you feel cooler by actually evaporating like it was designed to. Where I live sweat just builds up on your body and makes you all wet and slimy since it doesn't evaporate 'cuz its so humid.
On a hot, humid day I hide out indoors in the AC. I may venture outside but only to go to the air conditioned car so that I can go to the air conditioned store.

No, you're not the only one, some of my meds make it hard for me to be in the sun and heat, but honestly, it's never suited me. I keep the house quite dark and maybe get out a fan or two, and just wait til it passes.Barometric pressure gets to me as well.I have a running joke about being a cave mollusk, lol.

I semi-hibernate on hot days. Like today is in the 90s and there is no way I am going out there, especially since we don't have the pool up. I like certain heat, but not when it gets really hot like today and tomorrow. I much perfer about 70.

I'm much like you. For me I think it's the humidity that kills me. Living right on the lake it's so humid plus the heat. It may be 82F but feels like about 90F!

I do not mind the high temperatures it is the humidity that gets to me. Here in Georgia the dog days of summer are unbearable. So then I am in the A/C all the time. I run from my cool car to the stores and the malls as they are all icy cold.

lol- I would love to hibernate in the a/c-- but I am usually out in the hot heat- I have a 10 year old daughter and she loves to be outside- Most days we are out swimming- relaxing in the hammock, playing softball- I do try to find shade though when I'm outside. I think swimming is the best!

The summer heat used to be one of my favorite things about summer...now I really can't take the middle of the day heat..it physically makes me sick...I grew up playing tennis in 100 degree weather...it was dry heat and it didn't bother us...ahhhhh...youth and good health...what a difference they make!!!LOL I am now found in the airconditioning during the heat of the day...( at work) and when I arrive at home I pray to win the lottery and install central air!!! Our old 1920's house gets seriously hot in the upstairs where the bedrooms are...so we have a room air conditioner in our room and it really helps...
I don't get much done in the line of chores when the house is 80+ degrees inside..,.I think since I was diagnosed with the auto immune disorder my "thermostat" has whacked out.....If I had a pool, I'd be in it...Seattle doesn't get a lot of hot weather..but this week we've had 5 days over 80 at my house...so I was happy to see a little cloud cover tonight and a small sprinkle...I love to be outside and hike and work in the yard,...but when the mercury rises above 80 I'm seeking shelter!!!!
So hibernation is a good word...if I get central air this year I will love being able to use my whole house instead of hovering in one room during the worst heat!!!

I prefer to hibernate in Winter, when I can do so. on the contrary, I like doing outdoors activities when the weather is hot. For instance, riding my bike, going for long walks and sitting in parks.

No, you're not the only one. I hate heat as well. I used to enjoy swimming and reading in the sun, but I just can't tolerate it any more. Our house isn't air conditioned, but it's usually cooler than outside. There's always the library, too.
I'm sorry to hear you have MS. How long have you had it? I apologize if I'm prying.

No...you are not the only one. It was sooo hot here yesterday...and my family wanted to stay outside. Then my boyfriend wanted to go out to the local Staples. We were out earlier too...and got some groceries. It was so hot...and we walked up there both times...eeekkk. I don't know how people take that heat. I am like you and would rather sit inside with the air conditioner going than swelter outside in the heat. It makes me feel sick if it is too hot...yuck.

When I was younger, I loved to lay out in the sun. But not anymore. I can't stand the heat and anything over 70 is too hot for me to want to do anything outside. So, its about 90 today and I am sitting here enjoying the AC. Alaska sounds like a good place to go to today.lol.

No, definitely NOT, it has been so HOT here in Texas as of lately that I feel like I am dying. Menopause has set in my system, making me extra HOT and now our air conditioner has decided to go on the blitch, needless to say I am buring up from the inside out here, in fact it has been out the last month and I think I am going to die on certain days here, lately it has been so humid that we have 100% humidity with the mid-80 degree temperature and our house feels like it is in the 100's at least, hopefully soon we will have it fixed or I will explode, ha ha

I love both sunny days and well conditioned houses! so when I can go to the sunshine for a holiday I'm happy, and when at home in summer we close the windows and comfortably enjoy the air conditioning, with moderation -both for health and for economic/ecologic reasons...
What I really can't stand in summer are rainfalls and lightening!
That's for me really a good moment to stay at home and enjoy its comfort.
bye bye.
