What is Karma and why is it so important to Buddhist?

Now this is one question for which even i want an answer so i am not starting up a new discussion. Please mylot users respond here about the karma. I have seen this word in many discussions but just because i dont know its meaning and its importance, i never respond to those topics.

For me,karma is what you gain from you've planted. Just what jdw1971withch said,if you do bad then,badluck will come as of return.
