in my previous visit to srilanka i had come across a bread that was called 'scotch bread' and it was this lovely looking very cleanly kept bakery where people used to come to buy cake and pastry and all things that one finds in a bakery and though i have always disliked bread from my childhood it wasn't like the normal sliced bread one gets in a supermarket it looks like the one in hte pic here and the only difference is that the scotch bread i'm talking of is very oval like the shape of a egg and has long slashing lines as decorative..it could have a different name but i do not know of it and also it tastes lovely and is stretchy and needs a little bit of pulling when taking a bite.. Would any of you happen to know the name i may be able to find it in Inida for i am in India right now..and craving for it...lol

yes Scotch Bread is made with flour, oats, molasses, nuts and raisins, and its usually made in an oval loaf. Also Scotch Shortbread is a mouth watering cookie, made with butter, flour and sugar, I love It!

I do not know where you can find in India, but i have a recipe for you ,may be you can make your own scotch Bread see if it's better taste then the one you had it in Sri Lanka...:) Scooth Bread: 3 cups flour 1 cup sugar 1 teaspoon salt 1 teaspoon baking powder 2 teaspoons baking soda 1 1/2 cup rolled oats 2 eggs, lightly beaten 2/3 cups molasses 2 cups milk 3 tablespoons vinegar 1/2 cup chopped nuts 1 1/2 cups raisins Sift together dry ingredients.
