Cable is typically 3Mbps or faster throughput, and DSL is usually limited to 1 or less. You can get business DSL and get faster speeds, but the latency on cable is much faster then DSL. The company I work for the majority of my employees use Cable and I suggest cable just because of that reason. Cable can actually reach speeds of 10Mpbs a second I beleive and DSL is pretty limited as cable companies I've heard across the US are upgrading the speed already from what its at now.

I would have to say DSL Since Cable you are sharing your Connection with everyone in your Neighborhood But with DSL it is your own Connection to the Internet and no one else shares it with you. So I'am going to say DSL is the way to go for now.
Have a Great Day/Night.

Technically, cable currently can bring higher speeds. However, it all depends how much bandwidth your provider provides, because all providers limit bandwidth. Often there will be various plans available, around 1Mbps to 5Mbps.
