Retirement Adjustment

I retired early a week ago. My wife had quit her job about a year ago so has had a chance to get used to being home all the time. So far it has been great - golfing, playing tennis, playing with the grandkids, blogging and yard work. I expect it will be a little more difficult come winter time when the outdoor activities are more limited. We plan to do a little traveling. Anybody with experience have any tips for adjustment?

Thank you. I figure we work all our lives to get to the point where we can leave the stress of the work place behind. My wife asked me tonight if I regret leaving my job. I told her "Not even close!"

Well I am not retired yet. I feel like it some times, my husband is retired after 42 years working in television, and he is the best housekeeper, and just about does everything. He loves to work in the yard, and odds and ends, he stays busy all the time. He doesn't miss his job at all. He is enjoying our new home, and he's got a motorcyle, and goes out riding everyday. I am a nurse, but I work in an office. I do dataentry for a local home health agency. I really like and enjoy my job. I guess if I didn't I would've quit a long time ago. I don't quit becasue I can't afford to pay for medical insurance, its outrageous. I do have a candle business. Check it out at http://www.tilliescandlebiz.com enjoy your retirement, I know one guy in south Tx. that really is!!!!

Hi DanaMark. Congratulations on your retirement. It must be a good experience. I don't have any experience with this but I would think that like your wife, you will get used to it. I'm sure that you waited for your retirement for many years and now you will enjoy it! My in-laws are also retired and they go on their rv all the time during the year. Sometimes they are gone for 3-4 months and all the way up to Canada (British Columbia). Good luck!

Thank you. We would like to do some traveling later on. We already have a trip planned in two years to the Grand Canyon for our 40th wedding anniversary. Neither of us have been there. But for now we're just relaxing.
