All you need is a bag of dried opocorn kernals. some oil, a BIG pot with lid and handles on the sides, add heat underneath and keep shaking the pot (to prevent sticking and burning) until the popping sounds diminish and take off of the heat. Add melted butter or caramel or salt and other ground seasonings of your choice and POPCORN!

Really ? I really want to make my own popcorn at my house. That means that I need to buy some big pot. I know where to buy some popcorn kernals. I can add whatever i want, right ? Thank you.

I have made it on the stove with the kernels. I put a little extra virgin olive oil in the bottom of the pot and put a layer of popcorn kernels in and then cook with the lid, propped on top and wait for it to pop. I like to make it like this because it is healthier with the Extra virgin olive oil. Rather than vegetable oil. It tastes plain. But sometimes I'd rather it that way than all the butter and salt.

That's sound good. I never eat a popcorn with virgin olive oil. Thank you.

I've done the traditional popcorn in the pan. I prefer to buy Orville Reddenbocker's brand of corn. I just put some oil in the bottom of the ban, a layer of corn. (Remember it pops up a lot more then it looks) and cover. Turn on the heat and shake it as you cook so it doesn't scortch. Just add butter and salt afterwards. I'm not big on flavored popcorn besides butter. To be honest I prefer making the microwave popcorn and just adding some more butter. Too often the one on the stove just tastes a bit stale to me.

Hi there, Yes everytime we have movie nights we make our own popcorn and I think its so much better, we can add anything we want to it, like butter, caramel sauce, icing sugar, there are loads of things you can put on pop corn, its much cheaper and really tastier

Yes i did,my husband love popcorn very much. It's very easy to make, just put the corn into the popcorn maker and turn it on it only take a minute to pop.If you don't have the popcorn maker you can also use the deep cooking pot which just set it on the stove and turn on the stove until it's hot then put the corn into the pot and cover it.And the same time you move the pot back and fort to make sure the corn popping evenly. When it's done put it in a container anad dizzle some melted butter if you like.Or you can just eat it plain.
I hardly ever makle caramel corn because my husband don't like .

I have never done it myself but I found some tips for popping that maybe useful to you.Store your pop corn on a pantry shelf, never in the refrigerator or freezer.
For kernel pop corn, be sure it is sealed in an airtight container. For best results, use within 18 months of purchase.
Pour 3 tablespoons of cooking oil and 1/3 cup pop corn (or enough to cover the bottom of the pan no more than one kernel deep) into any heavy, 3 qt., or larger pan with lid. Cover pan and shake gently over medium heat, allowing the steam to escape from popping kernels. Remove pan from heat when popping stops and carefully pour popped kernels into large bowl. Season to taste.
For automatic pop corn poppers, microwave pop corn poppers and air-poppers, please follow the manufacturers instructions.
For pop corn that seems small, or hully, it may be a bit low on moisture. In some cases, you can add moisture by placing the pop corn in a tight-sealing jar with 1 tablespoon of water. Rotate the jar every few hours, for 24 hours, to encourage moisture absorption
