Ok. So Ive read the expecting books and all but I need some actual real life experiences from people that are currently or recently gone thru this. I am expecting my baby in about 5 weeks! and I am REALLY nervous! I just wanna hear yalls experiences as far as labor, birth, having this new bundle of job to take care of, etc. Also, Im also nervous that I dont have everything that she needs but I DO wanna make sure that I have everything that she will initially need (within the first month). Any advice would be greatly appreciated! thanks!

well, my first was pretty by the book, I went in when contractions were 3 min apart. Had an epidural and labor lasted comfortably about 12 hours. I had the baby with about 30 minutes of pushing. I didnt need nearly as much as I brought. Really in the first month they need somewhere to sleep, clothes to wear socks, and blankets, and bibs incase they spit up.
MY second was quick, labor lasted about 4 hours, start to finish, I had no time for an epidural. When I arrived at the hospital I was 8 cm, and I had her 10 min later. But dont worry about that because that usually doesnt happen with the first one.
My best advice to you, sleep all you can now and in the hospital because if you dont you will wish you did. Take advantage of your rest time and sleep time while you can. Good Luck and Congrats!

I have just had a baby on 19th May. I had a home birth. I woke up in the night with light pain. I didn't think I was in labour. It was like tightening over my stomach that came for 30 to 50 seconds every two minutes. I went to the bathroom and had a show. The pain got stronger whilst I was walking downstairs. I phoned my mum and the hospital to tell them I thought I was in labour. My mum came round and began to fill the birthing pool. My contractions got very painful and I layed down on my sofa hoping to slow them down as they felt far too powerful. Two midwifes arrived. I had a few very painful contractions one after the other. Thay tried to sit me up when I told them I thought I could feel the head. One contraction later the head came out, another contraction and the rest of my baby boy's body. Wow! That was so much quicker and easier than I had expected.
The essentials are a cot, bedding, pushchair or pram, nappies and baby clothes. A few toys are a nice extra. Think how you are going to feed your baby, naturally or with a bottle. You may need things for this. Good luck with your baby.
