We haven't had rain in a month, are you in a drought area?

Our ground is so dry that it has great big cracks in it. We are down almost 7 inches and are in a drought condition here in west virginia. My poor garden is just looking sick! The weather says that we should get a possible squirt or two today, but as of yet, I have only felt a sprinkle here and there. We are all praying for a good rain! Are you in an area that is affected by drought?

I own a landscaping company near you. So my work kind of depends on it. If the Earth goes into another ice age West Virginia will be a desert. I have seen the climate change in my lifetime. It used to always rain the 1st week of August. Now it doesn't. The tsunamis will bring weeks of rain which makes it hard to work outside. There are also flowers that bloom earlier than before such as Iris who bloomed 2 weeks early this year. But there isn't much I can do to fight global warming in this area when everyone feels the need to drive a truck instead of a smaller car. I know people who own trucks but will not put anything in the bed to avoid scratches. WTF??? Why buy a 10 mile per gallon vehicle if you don't need it?

I know what you mean! At the price of gas, I know that you must really be hurting in the landscaping business! We got a little rain this afternoon..but not enough to help! You say that your company is near me..I may need some landscaping done. Could you message me with your company name? Thanks!

*I know people who own trucks but will not put anything in the bed to avoid scratches. WTF??? Why buy a 10 mile per gallon vehicle if you don't need it?* LOL coolseeds!!! Don't people know that's what bedliners are for? There is stuff that they can spray inside the bed of the trucks to keep it from getting scratches. It also protects it from getting rusty. It hardens to a thick plasticy type stuff. People are just crazy!!!

Hey to top it off... I know a guy with a truck that has a bed liner who will not use it to haul anything. LOL Needless to say he is the one complaining about not having any money because his truck uses too much gas. ladyljs I sent you a friends request. I don't post where I live.

Ladyljs, If the Good Lord would let me, I'd send over some of that rain to you. It's been raining here in Iowa for the past 7 days. I think we had only one day of sunshine, but the ground was too soggy to enjoy it outside. I need to weed my garden, but I'm afraid of losing my shoe in the mud. I'll say a prayer for you that it starts to rain for you. I hope that it will happen soon.

I'll keep praying. We're expected to have another 5 days straight of thunderstorms and rain. :( I don't mind the rain, but I would like to see the sun once in a while.

I was so sorry to know that you are living in such a droughty condition area in west Virginia for a month. You might have suffered a lot due to shortage of water. I’m here praying for some good rains for you too. I’m living in a rainy area that got rain through out the year so I never experienced any serious drought before.

It's been rough here in Tennessee, too. I'm having to water my vegetable garden on a daily basis and it's still taking its toll on it. I had hoped for some relief this weekend, but, alas, it hasn't come. Guess there's always next year.

We haven't had much rain here either in Indiana. We had a little bit the other day and that was about it for a long time. We really haven't had any bad storms this year and I am glad of that. We do need some rain though because the ground is very dry. We have to watch the amount of water we use also because of the lack of rain.

Yes. We have to watch how much water we use. We cannot fill up swimming pools, water the lawn or wash cars and things of that nature. We can use indoors but we cannot over use outdoors.

Water rationing? Wow, I don't have to deal with that yet, but we do watch the amount of water that we use so that we don't run our well dry! LOL!

where are you from? we have also been praying for rain in my area, we are getting smoke and a little debris from the wildfires and its nasty around here. It rained all day Saturday though! and the weather calls for on and off rain most of the week. Looks like our prayers are answered, maybe it will be enough to put out the fires and take us out of this drought

We were in a pretty severe drought last year here in Oklahoma. Really have been in a drought overall for about 10 years. This is the first year we've been getting decent amounts of rain. By mid-May or so we had as much rain this year as we had for the entire year last year.

I am in Georgia, and we also have a drought. We had some rain I think two days ago. I think there was some kind of tropical storm. There are water restrictions. Some of my neighbors did not plant any flowers this year. I planted less than normal.

We live in Texas and it is so far been a fairly good year as far as rain goes. They claim that we are still behind but our ground is staying damp, the hay is growing well, and the temperatures are staying a little lower this year. Hope you guys get some rain soon.

Here in central florida about a week ago we were in a really bad drought. We had a defecit of about 7 inches of rain. But thanks to tropical storm Barry that just came through over the weekend we got some good needed rain. Were I live we got 3 1/4 inches of rain. So I think we are still in a drought but not as bad. We still need another good 4 inches of rain to bring us out of it. So in closing I know how you are feeling and from what I read it seems like everyone all over the US is being affected by this lack of rain.
