My hubby and I just got off the phone (yay!) and I brought up how much I liked the name Ashton to him, and to my suprise he said he liked it and wanted to use it! WOW!! I was so happy. LOL. But we need ideas for a middle name. We are thinking we want the middle name to start with a J, and it can't be James because that's my oldest son's middle name. Our last name is McCoy if that helps. thanks!!

How about Jack, Jesse or Jim? Maybe you might not want to consider Jim as your first son has James in the middle name!! How about Joe or Joey as well? Cheers! Ram

Darn it, I wish I would have read the responses first. I wouldn't have mentioned Joseph in my reply if I would have known this. Sorry!

Oooh I love Jude! My husbands nephew is named Judah, I wonder if he'll say that's too much like it. Jordan is great though. I've always liked that name for a boy or girl

Oh, that's a great name, Ashton. The best thing is that you both agree on it! That has got to be the hardest thing, right? Well, the 'J' names I like, you may not prefer, but I'll tell you some of the ones I think would be good. Like Jason, Jay, or Jeremiah. I know the last is an old name, but it just brings strength to the name and I think it works well with McCoy. But my favorite that I suggested is Jay. Ashton Jay McCoy. Whatever you decide, I'm sure it will be great!

Oh I love Ashton- It's a cute name- How about Ashton Jay- I love this- J's are tough- they are so formal- Joseph, Jeremy, Johnathon. I think I'd keep it simple.

Well, if you are intent on a J name i say Jason (my best friend) or Jade (guitarist from AFI). However, i am not one for J names, to be honest. i love the name Devon. But it has to be spelled that way. D-E-V-O-N. Not Devin, that just looks retarded. Not Devyn, that is the girl's way. Devon.

I'm thinking a one-syllable name would sound best. Too bad James is taken, because that would sound good with it. Maybe Ashton John? Then only Ashton I "know" is Ashton Kutcher, and his middle name is Ashton (his real first name is Christopher). Actually, Ashton Christopher McCoy sounds good, but I know you're looking for a J name. I'll have to think about this and will post again if I come up with anything else.

We were having this conversation about 6 /2 months ago because we also wanted a J middle name. We decided on James but some of the others that were mentioned were Joshua, Jonathon, Jackson, Jefferson, Joe, Jay, and Justin. My oldest son's middle name is Jeffrey and s/o's oldest son's middle name is Joseph. (His first name also starts with an A and he goes by AJ)

I like Justin too and Joshua! Good ones. That is why we said J, in case he wanted to go by AJ :)

Here are some j names for you to think over. When I was naming my boys I would say the first, middle, and last name out loud as I wanted something that had a nice ring to it. Good luck! JACOB JASON JERED JEREMY JOEL JOHNATHAN JOSEPH (my 6 year old's middle name :))

I love the name Ashton, very good choice :-) Glad hubby agreed with you! Also so happy you got to talk to him. I can't imagine how hard it is with him being so far away. I have 2 names that i love, one has been said several times but if I were to use it I would have an unusual way of spelling it, Jakob, I like to do things different if I can get away with it lol. The other name that I have not seen is Josiah. Don't ask me why but I love that name. I wanted that for my son's name but had to give in to my ex :-(

Ashton is a great name! I love it too. I would suggest joshua or Josh as the middle name. That's cos my hubby is called Joshua and he's a real cute boy. hee. btw, you are going to have five boys?! wow - hats off to you. I've always thought that any mummy with 3 boys deserves a medal, and you have five, so that should be a platinum medal! cheerio!

hmmm a J that is difficult, Scott sounds pretty with it... one of my favorite names if we were to be blessed with another son is "Joachim" it is the name of the Blessed Virgin Mary's saintly Father. Then there are the more common: John Jacob Jesse Jerald Joseph and some uncommon Jasper Julio Jude Hey! I think I like that one "Ashton Jude McCoy" that has a very nice ring to it! and Saint Jude is a marvelous name sake at that!

Here are a few I thought of: Jaden Joshua Jaison Jamil Jace Jackson Jameson Jakobe Jakob January Jarod Jaylin Jeffrey Jeremiah Jericho Jeremey Joaquin Jorden Julien Journey Jupiter Justice (I tried to offer something original. But, you may find a few names that have been repeated from previous posts.) I checked them out on baby naming sites, and they are all boys names. Many have interesting meanings and orgins too. Best of luck with naming your baby. And, congratulations.

Ashton is a beautiful name! Hmm.. How bout trying something more adventurous? One that can give an air uniqueness to your son's name? Some unique ones I rolled around in my mind: Jade Jin (For a slight oriental touch) Jules (After the author Jules Verne) Jonah That's about the safer adventurous names I can get. There are more exotic ones around. For some really exotic names, you can try the website www.exoticnames.com I came across while helping you find some ideas. =) Other than that, take care!
