Scenario:
I bought a gift for my friend's birthday at the mall. Then, I asked one of my friend's to put the gift in his backpack to hold. He puts his backpack down to talk to the cashier and when goes to get his backpack, it's gone. So who is to blame? Am I to blame? The one who gave it to someone to hold or the one who carelessly put the backpack down?

Actually you both are, but he is most of all. So I would say it is your friend. He should have watched his backpack (couldn't his friend walk over or did he have a broken leg.)
