Why Do Transvestite Men Look Better Than Women?

Okay here's a real odd topic perhaps for me to start....but today, in the next neighborhood near me, there was a Gay Pride Parade which had a lot of participants in it, including transvestites (men) dressed up as women, and it occurred to me that these men dressed up as women looked gorgeous!! I mean they looked better than most women....the clothes, the make-up, everything was stunning on them...And it made me think of some of the movies too were male actors (whether gay or not) have dressed up as women--think of that movie with Jack Lemmon and Tony Curtis in Some Like It Hot, or The Adventures of Priscilla, Queen of the Desert, or even To Wong Foo, Thanks For Everything, Julie Newmar with Patrick Swayze, Wesely Snipes, and John Lequizamo-- I mean in general men can sometimes make more beautiful stunning and gorgeous women than women....why is that?? Yet it doesn't seem to work the other way..women as good looking men Like I said this is a odd topic for me to start, but just wanted to know if you ever wondered the same thing...or is it just me??

Julia Andrews did make a good looking man didn't she? I have seen a few in the movies where the women pretending to be men look good but over all it's few and far between.

I have actually had some friends of mine that were transvestites or transexuals and the amount of time they spend getting ready to look like a woman it is no wonder they look so good, if I spent 4-5 hours putting on my makeup instead of 10 minutes I would look wonderful too, I was once told the reason they took so long is that they wanted to get it right since they were intimitating something that they were not, which was a woman and that they were insecure about how they looked so they took the extra time to get it right, so many women should learn from them on how to look good.

Wow--you take 10 minutes with make-up??? I only take five--LOL--gee maybe we should get beauty tips from transvestites??? I know...they really are probably fussier about their appearance than we are in appearance

A few years ago I stumbled across a transgender convention in a downtown hotel in Atlanta, Georgia, I was so intriqued that we went into the hotel for a drink just so we could look and see what was going on, we were shocked at how good they all looked and they were offering makeup classes and how to dress classes for all of them, if only we took the time they did everyday we would probably be a knock out too.

I've seen some talk shows where they show the transvestites, female impostors and mix them in with women and you are left to figure out which is which. It can be very hard to tell and often the female impostors and transvestites look the most feminine. As others pointed out though they do take more care with their appearance to look more feminine where as a natural woman doesn't have to fake the female appearance like a man does. Perhaps we should take tips from them in order to appear better?

I think it is all about effort. There is a lot of time and effort that goes into make up, hair, facials and exercise in order to look really good. These men are willing and able to spend the time and effort needed, and if you are married with a family often you don't have the time and energy to look glamerous all the time.

yes, this is so true. i have seen how these guys used to look like before they decided to go full force about going gay. they were never striking creatures then. but when they decided to go through the knife, plus the clothing and the make up, there happened a complete turn around. these gays must never make women insecure. they are never truly that good looking at all.

I never actually see a transvestite dressing up but I'm sure they can't look that perfect without surgery or layers of make ups. It's a lot of work, even us women must have gone through a lot of pain to look just perfect. We can look naturally beautiful without much work, but transvestites are not women so they can't possibly achieve this. I've watched movies where the women are bald and muscly, but they still look like women. It could be just me

You are so funny girl. I have seen them, and some are better looking than some women, and some are not. It all depends on the women and the man that you are looking at. Besides, they have all these push ups, push ins, tuck ups and downs, and tons of makeup to make themselves look great.

The tranvestites pay much more attention to their appeance. They need to show to the world that they are women and they improve themselves trying to be as much feminine as they can. Most women know that they are women and this is enough for them, they dont need too much to demonstrate their gender. Most of the travestites use bright, sexy toiletes, make-up and lipstick...they scream: Look at me, i am sexy, i am lady. Most of the women prefer not to attract too much attention / this can be dangerous for them in some cases/

I have said the same thing at times and I agree with you that most men do make beautiful women. Sometimes when I watch Maury and he has cross dresser on there it is hard to tell which ones are men and which ones are real women.

I have to agree with a lot of the other posters and say that the key is the amount of time spent on their appearance. It's crazy the amount of time taken up by such things! I've known a lot of transgender people, and I've seen the preparations they go through. Since I'm one of those throw on clothes and maybe brush my hair people, it mystifies me to be honest. And having makeup put on you by a man who can also put in on himself is a really neat thing. I had some interesting friends when I was younger, most notably male and female twins who often passed for each other. (I was dating one of them for a while.) I have to disagree with you on the women making good looking men thing though. I've known some girls that make lovely men! Though I guess it depends on your taste in men, now that I think about it.

I dont fully understand it myself and my god, it is amazing how good they look. I go to this club and alot of the middle aged men, are dressed as women. You would have no idea. For 5 months, i thought that the bar tender was a woman. I never went near the bar because i'm not 21, but from a distance she looked beautiful. Then one day walking by i looked up to see if it was a male or female, turns out it is definitly a tranny and she changes her wig like every week. Theres a few others and they all dress to kill. I guess they just want it more. They want to look like beautiful women so bad, that they work at it and put the time into it and think about what they wear and HOW they're wearing it for hours before they go out. I guess if we took the time to think about our hair matching our shoes or soemthing crazy like that that we would also ALWAYS look damn good. They just spend so much time effort and money. And youre right, no matter how hard a lady tries, she wont make a good man. Granded few do. If they arent very feminine and dont have feminin features. But that is what I think. Just that they want it more then we do. They want to be the pretty girl and they work for it.

There are some men that are lovely dressed as women, kurt russell makes a lovely woman too. But I think it may have something to do with the fact that you can make ugly pretty, but you can't make pretty ugly. Pretty seems to always shine through. I do remember that Julie Andrews did the cross dressing thing and dressed like a man for the movie Vortor, Victoria she did a fine job too. I think it is sometimes dificult to hide the womanly attributes to dress like men.

Sorry, dude. Just watch the "Girl or a guy" episodes on those day time talk shows..moreover, Maury and Jerry Springer and see if you can tell. Very, VERY few can. No one's eyesight here is terrible. And actually, I think two out of every five guys has mistaken a cute transvestite guy for a girl..so give people a break. Some make up on guys can be done terribly, I give you that. But if done right, it can look very pretty. If you don't think guys who wear make-up are pretty..well that's your own opinion, I think though..you have more of an issue about gender roles than about how they look. Just my thoughts hun, I mean no offense,

I agree with you xParanoiax --sounds like younglking has a bit of homophobia to me---I really can't care less if a person is gay or bi...and if a man wants to dress like a woman because he feels that is expressing the true gender he feel inside ...then so be it--some will even go to great lengths to become a woman including surgery--for some reason what comes to mind is the singer Boy George...okay he didn't wear women's clothing but wore make-up--and hey, he looked pretty darn good with it Men wearing make-up is not a new thing either....for centuries men did...it's only relatively recently that men haven't

hahaha so true. I think it is because transvestite men try much harder to look good than most women do. Think about the ridicule they would receive if they got it wrong? wow it can be devestating. Also, these guys go through a hell of a lot of psychological self torture before they come out in public and should be applauded for their guts. A woman, on the other hand, can get away with having a bad hair day blessed be

They should be applauded, I agree with you..I have nothing against gay or bi people...my own father was bi--it's hard enough for gays or bis to "come out" to begin with, so it's even more notable when men will dress up beautifully as a woman and to be proud of what he is... That's funny though...we women who have a hair day...I bet we still wouldn't take that extra effort and time to look good then

That is something I have noticed myself and have no real answer to give. Except men who are wanting to be women study into what it takes to be a woman. Everything from clothes to the perfect tones of make-up that go with their skin. Doing more than some women to in a sense hide their masculine features and look more feminine. So that is what I am guessing makes them seem better looking than an actual woman in some instances. Mainly going further than what some women prefer to go.

When I go to the Whitby goth Festival I always meet up with a couple of transvestite friends of mine. They always look stunning in goth clothes and make up, much better than I do and I take ages getting ready. One of them wore a gorgeous black velvet and lace sheath dress last year and had all the girls green with envy. He says it takes a lot of time and effort to look that good but he feels it is worth while as he admits that once he is all dressed up and made up he feels extremely feminine and I have to say, he looks fantastic.

Here in good ole NY, one of the most famous "events" is the Halloween parade in Greenwich Village...omg...the men always look far superior in the detailed costuming and make up than the women--they really knock themselves out--they are always the best dressed

I've wondered that too. Now, girls CAN make stunning guys. Or at least, a cute one. Just not through make-up, heh. I mean, we do have to look at the examples of some of the women who disguised themselves as men so that they could..participate in a war, or get something done which would've been dubbed inappropriate for them to do because they were female. Ans today, some girls will bind their chests flat and cut their hair..and some of them will look like striking guys. It just seems like there's more guys which can dress up and look gorgeous than girls. A matter of our latest generations I guess? Genes? *shrugs*

Hi pyewacket. I remember a friend who went to Thailand a few years back. She had watched a show where all the performers are gays. But the gays are so unbelievably beautiful and gorgeous. They also acted more feminine than real women. I think the transvestite painstakingly go to the extra miles to practice on their image and even their voice. Most of them are better equipped with how to apply makeup well. It has become their daily routine and their personal mantra are always to look and feel beautiful.

Well it's not only in Thailand--if I remember the Japanese Kabuki theatre is nothing but men too and many will dress up as the female characters...in fact going back to ancient Greece, and even up to Shakespeare's time there were never female actors...all men
