MUSLIM WOMEN WEARING VEILS

Women have been wearing veils for years so why the big deal now? Why has no one got anything better to do than to pick on women with veils? Has the public REALLY run out of people to point their fingers at or is his another one of those "FIGHT AGAINST TERRORISM" phrases. You know, "THE FIGHT AGAINST VEILS", "THE FIGHT AGAINST TERROISM", "WEAPONS OF MASS DESTRUCTION"?

Today people should do what they feel comfortable doing.

The point is, if you want to wear a veil, you should have the choice!

Well, there are actually very few Muslim women, as far as I know, who do wear the veils. However, I have always had these problems with them: 1. They are a sign of male oppression. Whether the woman chooses to wear one or not, or whatever her personal reasons are, they still symbolise male oppression. I think they insult men too, in such that, they are often worn to avoid men looking at their face, as well as being either vain or insulting to the wearer. Either vain because they're assuming they are so beautiful that people will want to look at them, or insulting because they don;t want anyone to look at their face. 2. There are all sorts of things like that you're not supposed to wear a cap in some places but veils are ok. Apart from that, it is only polite to take off head gear. I don't have a problem with wearing the veil to keep warm or just wearing the bit that doesn't cover the entire face but it is quite disturbing to only see someone's eyes. This is only a big deal now because it's been brought up by a politician and blown out of proprtion. The truth is that people have always been scared or wary or felt whatever they've felt about the veils but no one has spoken out before.

But they do speak out, which is the thing I find strange. Also, I have heard Muslims who don't wear the veils talk about how few actually do. And, quite frankly, I have had all my life, all this political correctness and ethnic "minorities" speaking out and I think it is about time the natives and patriots spoke out against it. It's all very well having a multicultural society but those who expect that, don't want to accept the culture of the country they choose to live in, whether that be Muslims or any other group of people.

Nice topic, strange how I missed it. I just want to remind the world, the christian world mainly that Islam is not the only religion which tells women to cover themselves. It is also in the bible. Strange? read on "Now I want you to realize that the head of every man is Christ, and the head of the woman is man, and the head of Christ is God. Every man who prays or prophesies with his head covered dishonors his head. And every woman who prays or prophesies with her head uncovered dishonors her head...If a woman does not cover her head, she should have her hair cut off; and if it is a disgrace for a woman to have her hair cut or shaved off, she should cover her head" 1 Corrinthians 11:3-6 Amazing, isnt it....???

Of course when American Mennonite women wear bonnets and Amish women, their caps; no one says anything to them - thank goodness I hope not. But let me, an American Muslimah, get out of my car in a parking lot and I get catcalls and cursings such as "Take that crap off", "You're going to h@ll" and the newest: "You're a traitor!" once this guy saw I was American. Little old me, a decorated, 18 year retired military nurse with 2 wars and 3 rescue missions behind me, supposedly coming from the "Land of the Free". How bizarre.

They can say whatever they like. They belong to a land where freedom of speech is taken as a right, are you not aware of tht fact. And what difference does your 18 years military service mean to them. You are a Muslim and thats the biggest crime. I just wish people start coming to their senses
