I know my question is a little bit silly and embarrased, but for me I just want to ask how many of us experienced it before and I hope no one will not get mad of me if I ask. Did you feel itchy in your scalp and have falling snowflakes coming from your hair? Are you aware of maybe someone noticed, you have dandruff and you hide it?
There are many possible reasons that can cause dandruff, wrong used of shampoo to the skin type of a hair, using of different products such as gel, moose, hairspray and other products that can cause irritation of our scalp. My mother told me not to rub the scalp with nails of the finger, used only the tip of the finger without scratching the scalp with nails coz it can cause irritation from the scalp.

it is really very embarrassing to see those snowflakes falling down especially when you're wearing a black blouse. and it makes us feel uncomfortable due to the itch.

I think I may have had dandruff a couple of times in my teens. Dandruff is just a dry scalp. We have all had dry skin at one time or another and seen how it flakes. To get rid of dandruff, just use a shampoo formaulated for dandruff.

My husband had the same problem. Once in a week i warm up a tablespoon of coconut oil, add two to three drops of lemon juice, apply it on his scalp. I apply little by little taking tiny partitions of hair and finally give the scalp a good massage. With oil, massaging with fingertips will not harm the scalp. Leave it for good one hour and give it a wash with a good herbal shampoo. Beleive me, you will get good results instantly.

Thanks for some tips, your right massaging with fingertips will not harm the scalp, but with the nails it will irritate the scalp and it will itch.

i lyn, I must say you are not the one with dandruff here.. :) I have it once and I am very annoyed having it.. know what I did, I use virgin coconut oil to treat my dandruff and I've been using it once a week now for maintanance.. I use creamsilk anti dandruff conditioner too.. I make sure to shampoo my hair to prevent it.. I go to the salon Twice a month for hot-oil treatment or the aromatherapy treatment for dandruff.. :)

Gosh...I have a lot of problems with dandruff. I still try to figure out what's the cause. I changed all kinds of shampoo and hair treatment but so far it didn't really help alot. I can stand the itchy but I just can't stand seeing the snowflakes on my hair. It was really embarrasing !!! My husband said maybe the water but I'm still not sure....The only thing I can do just wash my hair regularly and hopefully one of these days the dandruff will just go away...

There was a time when I was a student, I had that problem. It was largely due to the fact that my lifestyle was too stress out and I was experimenting on using a few hair products at that time. The shampoo which I was using also did not do well on my scalp. It got pretty bad at one stage and I had to cut my hair short and used doctor's prescribed shampoo for my hair and scalp. I was also made to eat some prescribed medication to ease the problem. Lucky, it lasted only for a few months and thereafter, I would ensure that I have healthy scalp by using the right hair products and to lead a healthy lifestyle...

Dont you worry, lynboobsy, I wont get mad at you for asking.. LOL
Like everybody else, I have had dandruff. In fact, dandruff is one of my greatest problems when I was in high school. My hair would get itchy all the time and I really am bothered because other people might see the white flakes which are all over my hair and scalp. Thank God I have recovered from those experiences.
Apparently, I got dandruff because of stress. Yes, stress can also cause dandruff.
Now, I still experience mild 'episodes' of dandruff appearances but these 'episodes' are a lot lighter than my first dandruff dilemma.

Hi lynboobsy11, fortunately, I dont have dandruff. My husband has dandruff. I agree with you that one of the main culprit is using the wrong kind of shampoo. I always see my husband scratching his scalp and also the dandruff can be seen on his shoulder or hair. But after changing his shampoo, he no longer suffers dandruff.

I used to have dandruff when i had no idea of what that is. I soon realized that i had to maintain my comb very neat and take regular head bath. But then nothing prevented dandruff. It so happened that i switched my shampoo to pantene and it worked fine. even head and shoulders worked well but there was hair fall. With pantene no hair fall and no dandruff.
My friend also tried pantene but it didnt wrk for him. Sunsilk worked for him. So depending on skin type, one has to choose their shampoos. Keep you hair clean and you can prevent dandruff

Hi lynboobsy11!
I had it sometime before. But now its all good since i switched on to some herbal shampoo. I went to some dermatologists and they said that it was the chemicals in the shampoo that i was using that never suited my hair and thus caused dandruff. Its really hard to go out in the sun when you have dandruff. It keeps on itching and then you are not able to enjoy at your fullest.
I have one more method of getting rid of dandruff, take some two or three lemons and rub them on your scalp and then leave your hair like that for about an hour and then take a bath. One wash and believe me you wont see even a single flake on your scalp.

Hello, lynboobsy,I have not experienced the problem of dandruff. As i have long hairs,I have to wash my hair everyday to make sure it is clean. Your mother is right,if we use the finger tips to rub our hair, the scalp will be damaged which will cause the problem of dandruff. I was told to change the brand of the shampoos regularly,I am not sure about the reasons but I think it is good for health of hair and can prevent dandruff. You should also choose a shampoo which is suitable for your hair ot it will damage your hair.

It happens to me specially when I use a shampoo or conditioner which does not match my hair type. I hate the feelings when I have a dandruff on my scalp. It was really itchy and alot of flakes comes from it. I feel shame when somebody notice it, specially to those people who are not that close to me.
We have to be very careful in choosing the right hair products to avoid dandruff production.

I myself have only experienced it a couple of times in my life. my shampoo dried my hair out a cuople of times so I had to change it to something with a moisturizer in it. My daughter does have dandruff quite frequently and for a long time we had to get dandruff shampoo for her. She has stopped having dandruff and is now just using her regular moisturing shampoo/conditioner. It sucks having to worry about it, sometimes it becomes embarrassing when you were dark colors.

Whatever you have stated is very true. I used to have dandruff some years before and even now it still exists but very negligible in quantity. For some days my mother would regularly apply oil and then lemon on the scalp. Lemon kills the germs causing the dandruff and also gives Vitamin C to the scalp which is very helpful for a healthy growth of hair. It doesn't have any side effect as it is natural. Nowadays, I have itching on the scalp, but its because of the sweat and not dandruff.
