i m talking about when you face things like cross connection of your phone with one of your neighbours' line due to the fault of your exchange!!today when i picked up my phone to make a call i heard two girls chit chatting on the speaker. i really got curious to know what they were talking about and it was really funny to hear them..they talked about each others' future plan after high school and of course about boys of their class. "where was that handsome boy these days which used to be a heart throb of our class or what about that shy fellow etc. etc." well now i m feeling sort of guilty for doing that, especialy when during their chatting a girl said so trustfully to the other one that "promise you are not going to tell about this to others" and here i was over hearing them all way long;) hahaha. but anyway my question here is do you think it's wrong to over hear others' conversation on phones even if you didn't really mean it? and what you would have done if you were faced with the same situation? plz tell me if i did anything wrong by doing that!:P

Nah, I don't think it's unethical, because it happened accidentally. And you don't know the person. I don't think you could do her harm if you told somebody about it. I once too heard a conversation like that. And I was quite annoyed. Because it was during my phone call to a friend. I thought my friend was on the other line but she wasn't it was someone else.~lol Happily, he and she couldn't hear me. Because I would have been embarrassed. Because I was still talking about something when they interrupted me.~lol (^^,)

It happened with me once .. the person was my neighbour and she was talking to her relative and she also came to know that I am also on line so she told me to disconnect the phone but I didn't .. so her relative asked my neighbour -- Are you sure she won't be listening to our talks -- then my neighbour said no way -- she is not like this and after hearing this I kept the phone silently. I thought that it's better to keep the phone when the other person has so much trust on me.

wow that's very lucky to have neighbours who have trust in you:). by the way i don't know my this neighbour so well and she also didn't understand that her phone is crossing with someone.. but like you i would have done the same. one can't really betray someone's trust!:)

LOL, kaplya, remind me to stay away from you and to check my phone for bug. What you did is called eavesdropping. You may not intentionally try to listen to both speakers but I honestly have to say that I will be annoyed. It happened to me before when I lifted my phone and heard someone talking on the other line. I simply put down the phone and waited for a few seconds before lifting the phone again. There are no one on the other lines anymore. I just don't have the time to listen to strangers talking. Besides, I would prefer that people respect my privacy too. :)

I think it depends on what the topic of conversation was. It sounds like a bunch of high school girls and their stupid crushes. No harm done. It's not like they were discussing national terrorism or something.

Definitely it is wrong and unethical, what if it also happened to you and youre talking about something really private what would you feel? although I know you didn't mean it. If the same thing happened to me, I would have put the phone down immediately.
