Are we Born Evil?

I've thought about this many times and I still haven't come up with my own opinion on it.
It's impossible to imagine an evil baby, because as they say 'we're all born innocent and ignorant', but some people's actions lead you to believe that only evil people could do something like that. So the question I ask is, 'is it an evil deed done by a person' or 'is it a deed done by an evil person'?
What are your views on this subject?

I'm not a member of any Organised Religion. Instead, I study Spiritualism. In My opinion Evil does not exist! There is No Good or Bad, but Rather, there is Ignorance, and Bliss. Everyone is on the Pathway to God, but each, at a different place on that Path. No one does Anything, that he/she deems as Wrong! Society calls Evil, what the offending individual sees as Good, simply because that person is lacking in Knowledge.
God has created a Perfect World. We are Blessed when we can See that Perfection!

I agree to a certain extent. Yes, we are the ones who decide what is evil and what is not, but I don't believe this world to be perfect in anyway, infact I believe this world to be hell on earth. But that's another argument for another post.

Well, reading back I can kinda see where you're coming from with that hypothesis, because just like I said in my first comment, 'we're born innocent and ignorant', so in that sense the world should be seen as perfect, but I don't think it really is without fault as there are things like natural disasters that kill innocent people all the time, and these disasters are not caused by people. So, I don't know how far I agree that it's a perfect world.

That's a very interesting point, and one I can honestly say I've concluded in the past. You are absolutely right. I think that because we're left to rationalise, we will never all have the same views so some things which are perceived as evil or bad in one place can be completely normal and people may aspire to them in another (polygamy springs to mind).
So I think I'll mark this as the best response as it pretty much sums everything up.

I don't belive that people are born inherently evil, likewise i don't feel they are born as good. I think much more has to do with how a person grows up and develops and the enviroment(s) under which this happens. Of course everyone is different and I don't mean to say that the parents of murders delibratly raised them to be as that. But small events in there early life perhaps helped to shape the person they would become.
However i do think that through such development a person could be considered to be evil to make it a deed done by an evil person.

Right, so you believe that people do 'become' evil through circumstances in their lives? I think I'd have to agree with you on that. I think life experiences shape us into what or who we eventually become.
