What happened to our heroes? Are they just a part of our past? How can we revive the dying Filipinism? Being acculturated to western ways are not at all bad, at least no women and men have equal rights! But all I want to say is piko are no longer being played in the streets, tumbang preso can just be seen in television being played by characters from the past. Because of this our culture which I may say is so unique and beautifull is old, dusted and dying... Traveling along the hi-way I cant help but noticed children playing "cara cruz!" "tong-its"... no wonder gambling is so wide spread! it started from the young! As parents, and as readers we should not allow our kids to be exposed to such games! So i suggested to all churches and religions to educate children to draw closer to Jesus instead to gambling. Then maybe we can hope for the better.

Don't worry, I still see the kids playing patintero, agawan base, turumpo and taguan in our neighborhood. But you're right, I see less children playing the piko and tumbang preso. I think its because kids right now are more obsessed with staying indoors playing Playstation and Xbox. These are far more superior entertainment tools and can be utilized as a great learning tool too. I think what Filipino developers have to do is incorporate our traditional games into softwares playable in these machines. That would be cool :)

If only we could make our games more futuristic and entertaining for all ages ^_^ in adddition to that more and more developers increase the "playing" factor on most console games adding more functions and stuff

I think, it's also because parents nowadays, set a different trend to our children. I mean, like for "tong-its", "bingo", "dos". Those are games played primarily by adults. And then pass on to the younger generation. Children tend to copy their elders. So if we want them to change, adults too should change. And also, the lack of education and exposure to our history plays also a great factor why younger generations changes a lot. And sadly with the Media extreme exposure to western culture, some of our values, gets quite unnoticed. I think not only churches are to promote good values. But ourselves as well. We have to be living example to our children of our Filipino values. And our leaders as well, should change for the better and also promote good values, by applying them in their life. By the way, Welcome to Mylot Mamakatsarj! Happy posting! (^^,)
