On current form its got to be Ricky ponting. He is way ahead of all in terms of runs scored in the past couple of years, even Sachin and Lara have not come close in the last two years. So the best batsman right now is Ricky ponting.
About the bowlers, its tough to choose between Mcgrath and Murali. But Mcgrath being more successful in one dayers because of his australian aggrassive attitude he is the best in one day game. Murali is way ahead of all in test cricket. His style of bowling suits more to test cricket where the batsmen don't go down the pitch too often to hit him over the infield. Thats where he becomes truly dangerous with his flight and loop. So i'd say Murali for tests and Mcgrath for one dayers.
Now onto all-rounders, Kallis by far is the best. Flintoff did threaten his position for a while as the best all-rounder of this era but now Flintoff too seems to be fading these days while Kallis has remained evergreen. So my vote for Jaques Kallis.

I think the best batsmen currently is Ricky Ponting. He has certainly showed his class and consistency. Well, I should say Kevin Pietersen,b eing a newbie, is also doing a very fair job. He has scored runs against all the teams at all surfaces. Lets see what he delievers in future...
As far as best bowler is concerned, there was a long battle between Mcgrath, Muralitharan and Shane Warne. Since the retirement of both fellow australians, currently Best Bowler I think is Muttiah Muralitharan. He is creating new records every day...
Best Allrounder is Jack kallis. He is just great with both bat and bowl. He can deliver match winning performances with either of them.

yes you are pefectly right but i will not ahgree one thing with you that is in the point of bowler . i will agree with batsmen and iwill add one moore batsmen to be best in my openion that they were both sachin and lara. and coming to bowlers also there are two bowlers they are shane warne and murali and coming to alrounders also i have two they are kallis and fluntoff.this is not the corect way to say best.because for best i have to say only one batsmen , one bowler and one alrounder. but i cant say one because in my choice both the batsmen ,both the bowlers and both the alrounders are too great no one is less anbd noo one is great than another so i will say one thing that both the players in each field are great.

I feel for last 17 years Sachin tendulkar is the best batsman having scored maximum centuries in both versions of the game. In bowling i feel it is mcgrath for helping his team win lot of test matches and helping them complete hat trick of world titles in one dayers. The best allrounder i feel is Kallis he is very good both with bat and ball esp. with bat. happy mylotting:)

Batsman:
As far as current batsman is considered i cannot make make up my mind between these two 1.Ricky pointing
He and his team is in such a good form.He has moved up to top runs list and when he goes on with this form he will broke that record.
2.Kevin peterson
He is also in a great form. His team batsmen are suppoting him but still he manages to take some runs.
Bowler:
Lasith malinga-He has some strange action. He swings the ball very well.He has also that slower delivery which chokes many batsman. He can take the match away as he did to south africa.
Allrounder:
Kallis- He has been toping the allrounder list for many years and still does it very nicely

I have to vote for Ponting as the best batsman. His form over the last two years has been incredible. He seems to be getting better!
I have to vote for McGrath as the best bowler because no amount of politically motivated propaganda will ever convince me that the other guy is a bowler! I've seen him enough to form my own opinion on that one. Now that McGrath has gone it will be interesting to see what happens in the next 12 months.
Kallis has definately been the standout alrounder over the last year. Flintoff has, unfortunately, gone missing when he was really needed too often and the captancy just wasn't right for him.
