back in the day when the girl scouts were selling cookies as a fund raiser they made the cookies that they were selling...none of this pre packaged mass produced stuff.
Here is a recipe for the Original Girl Scout Cookie
1 cup butter softened
1 cup sugar
2 eggs
2 TBS milk
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
2 teaspoons baking powder
------------------------------
In a mixing bowl, cream butter and sugar. Add eggs and beat well. Add milk and vanilla and beat until fluffy. Combine flour and baking powder.
Gradually add to the creamed mixture and mix well.
chill for 2 hrs or overnight.
When ready to bake, preheat oven to 350*f. Roll out dough to 1/2 inch thickness. cut with trefoil cookie cutter. Place on ungreased cookie sheet. bake for 8-10 minutes or until lightly browned.

that is awesome! i will have to try that cookie recipe. My daughter will probably like it a lot. I understand the whole concept of the prepackaging and making it easier to distribute as a mass quantity because they have grown as an organization, but I do miss the simplicity
