Making money online: Do you want to waste your life away?

I came to this site wanting to earn a little bit of extra cash. I also signed up with paid online survey sites to take surveys in return for some money. I was one of those "wow let's try to make a few hundred bucks online" guys.
I started yesterday, and today I see the truth.
I don't think, for most of us who come in for the money initially, we are able to hit the so-called $100 a day target so conveniently expounded by numerous people on the net. What I see are surveys that come few and far in between, cents trickling in every few days, and forum posts that take 3 minute to reply that earn you about $0.04 each. So in essence, taking a cost-benefits approach, we reckon for the above-average user, you would only be making about $1.50 per hour at best. Outside, working at McDonald's, you'd be making at least $4 an hour.
So what I want to depict is this: Do you want to spend your life and free time clicking away, signing up at umpteen websites, and replying to discussions you have no interests in, for a pitiful $1.50 an hour, or would you spend a small amount of time doing a meaningful job, and spending quality time for yourself and with your family?
I am not beating up on people trying to make money online. I just want to bring up the fact that we are doing this for the wrong reason if we come here just for the money. The discussions we have here are meaningful and intellectual, and within a day I have to admit, I have cast aside my desire to make money off myLot. Instead, I find it fun to read discussions, see what people from various cultures have to say regarding various issues in life, and learning more about the world. The extra few dollars here are well, fun at most, just for a Happy Meal or two =)
