My interent keeps going down!

I have the VIOP phone. My internet keeps going in and out. It has been doing this for a few days now. So I finally called to complain about it. Since the internet will not work then my phone does not work. I asked them if it was my end or thier end. They told me it was them and that I need to get a splitter and fix this and that. I have no clue what they were talking about... so I told them they needed to fix it themselves. I also asked for them to reimburse me for the days that I have not had the proper serrvice. Is that bad??? I feel like a cheapo for doing that but they need toget their crap together. Have you ever had this problem before???
