It's a little hard to give suggestions without knowing what cooking gear will be available. Camping means so many different things to different people. When my parents would take us it was in a big camper with a stove/oven and microwave. Under those circumstances you could make anything that you'd normally make at home. On the other hand if all you have available is a campfire then you'll have to be more creative...which is one of the fun parts of camping! Potatoes and corn on the cob can be wrapped in foil and tossed right in the fire, well around the edge at least lol. There are some great camping pans/pots out there that can be used on or in a campfire. If I was going to put together a complete meal (dinner) for a large group using only a campfire this is what I would do using campfire style cooking gear. Roasted potatoes, roasted corn on the cob, baked beans and baked corn bread could all be done "in" the fire by burying them under the embers/ashes. On top of the fire I'd put marinated chunks of meat on kabob sticks along with the standard fish, hamburgers and hot dogs.

I love cooking chicken on the grill and corn on the cob too. Just rap the corn in some tin foil and cook away. And theres always the hot dogs and hamburgers on the grill too. And dont forget the marshmallows for night time. I love cooking them over the camp fire. LOL Just be careful one time I was flinging it around and the cooked marshmallow flew straight towards my girlfriends face. Yes it smacked her right in the face. I couldnt stop laughing. She was okay.

On camping what i like to do is get some Fish and do it in B.B.Q style at night why i am saying is that when ever i go to camping i love to catch fish and then at evening love to make it BBQ and then me and my friends have that fish with a lot of gossip and when you and your husband and your friend will do it in night with fire on the things will look more romantic and magical at night and the fresh fish wow i love that i wish i could be with you at that camping :)

I am sorry, I cannot make any creative suggestion, because our food cultures deffer a lot. For us we will make some chappathis out of wheat flour (powder) and some mashed potatoes and green salad with spicy pickles. Thank you for the interesting discussion.

I believe, easiest food may not be the tastiest food, most of the time. Because, most care you take for preparing food, more tastier will be the food. With that mind, go for a Bread Roast. The inner dish can be something like sliced boiled egg, omlet, potato etc.. Give it a try.

I see that you have already selected a best response but nevertheless, I still would want to share my favorite recipe. Do you like tuna salad? All you need is an equal amount of each ingredient: tuna (in can), pineapple chunks, sweet corn, grated carrots, green peas, mayonnaise. Just tossed them all in a bowl and your recipe is ready. You can modify the amount of each ingredient like me I put more sweet corn because I like them very much. You can also add more like lettuce or cabbage. However, if there are vegetarians among the group, you can use baked beans instead of tuna. But then you have to cook the carrots and sliced it in a different shape about the same size as the corn or green peas you know for culinary art's sake. And of course no more mayonnaise. I just thought I would tell.
